I am amazed that that large of a kb has that low of a capacity on the fly...years back mr. Poor did a demo here in ohio using tci's effer 655 6s 6s heavy duty and he was easily taking 5-6k logs.
Don't have one, nor knowledge on minis, but a vermeer dealer can put an "emergency rush" on parts that come up as a crazey backorder time...usually cuts it down to 2-3 weeks. Use a bucket of rags till then. Knowing vermeer, they wont be regular o-rings; it will be something stupid like sae...
Having just had all that work done; likely something got tweeked. Have you checked all the other connections? I dont exactly know that motor, but on a 3054e from 07, the primary fuel pump is in the housing that the filter plugs into and it is electric. Sound similiar?

Of course they do, they want that check! Same reason why they certified it without the bed; still sounds like it maybe too heavy for a bridgelaw state.
Just food for thought, but the newerish 1590s ( since about 07) have an 18x20.5" opening....that being said, our newest with supersized feed system, basic options everyone wants, and a tier 3 173 horse, no winch weighs in at 9890 pounds full of fuel...24.5 gallons i believe? Ours does have...
