Got a question; how do I read this chart? Does this mean that no matter how close to the truck I am, I will always overload my boom if I have more than 3150 on my boom with my jib all the way in? It’s pretty quick to take my fly jib off but who wants to do that? I would certainly think I’m good for more than that not telescoped out at all

Yes as long as you have the fly jib on you can never lift more than the fly jib chart with the fly jib. Now you can lift off the last lug on your outer boom and reduce the load by the weight of the fly full of hydraulic fluid. You have to know what the jib weighs wet and calculate that into the load.

Don't ask don't tell on the remote in the tree. Not sure you really want to try that yet......

That response makes sense. Thanks Steve. Didn’t think to pin my lower boom. As you can see, my main’s capacities are quite high in most circumstances.
 
Your company trainer should have explained the chart in GREAT detail!!!!!

I agree. I think he did his best considering the circumstances. We spent all of day two(out of three) torque checking my stay bolts and going over all maintenance of the boom and truck. Quite a project. I’m huge on maintenance and mechanical upkeep. Maybe I should have waited till he left, got some free labor out of him though and he was quite a good mechanic

I am amazed that that large of a kb has that low of a capacity on the fly...years back mr. Poor did a demo here in ohio using tci's effer 655 6s 6s heavy duty and he was easily taking 5-6k logs.

It all depends on model of crane and number of sections each part has.

My model, and section configuration, allows me to lift 6,600 on my flyjib. You take my same model and change the section numbers it can drop that down to 3-4k

My chart is the one on the left. Add one section to the main (take one off the fly) and you have the same reach, but with different numbers. The one on the right is nice because there is more overall capacity at full reach (more reach in the main which is stronger). But because the main now has more sections in it, the fly can't lift as much. I'm guessing due to the higher weight of the main etc.

That chart is showing the boom straight out horizontal... the jib is rated for much more than that. Attached is a PM 100 load diagram, same as @CanaryBoss's boom configuration I believe.

Just checked out the operators manual, looks like the jib hook point is rated for 11,000 lbs

Rough day today. Already have a leaking cylinder and my mecanil 160 is leaking out of a check valve. BIK is flying their top tech in tomorrow to check it out. At least I’m getting good service.

I did run the the grapple saw the most I have today. I loved it. Definitely my favorite way of doing removals with my new truck. And fast. I had three guys buried trying to keep up with me. Got done way early and went and made some money on some other jobs that needed getting to.

Sorry been very busy lately.. but that's my point, i run the grapple as much as i can. You'll see how nice it is to just reach and grab and have a climber make the cuts..

If it was gonna leak, it leaked for me. I chased shiny spots for months. It's like the barometric pressure from where they assemble them and where we use them causes every connection to leak. I had a ton of problems with my meccnil for the first 6 or 8 months. Never a cylinder though.
