How to tell when it's too dead

A rear mount bucket might have let u make those cuts from the bucket? U took care of the tree and it was all good. U obviously have done this before. My point is it could have been way less sketchy with different equipment. I wasn't there so I don't really know, but it looks like a different...

    Petzl Visor Question?

Dude don't get a visor, for me those are the same as people who climb around with the saw hanging at the end of their lanyard like some weird ass chainsaw anchor. Most of the guys I know just put it down when they are cutting, which leaves them open to a poke in the eye most of the time. I think...

Cut my knee cutting a stump.

Welcome to the club, I have one my left knee. Don't feel to bad I was 18 and wearing shorts dropping trees on a hill when I got mine.... Just make sure u don't have 2 cuts.

How to tell when it's too dead

Dead trees r not always dangerous to climb. Post pre climb inspection. It all depends on where the tree is and how u can move through it. Can u bomb it out, do u have to rig it, does it have a wide spread( will u be moving long distances laterally and putting a lot of force on a dead tip?) or can...

    Crane for sthilmadd

Thanks ray. Not really that long, guess it depends on the spread. This is a short vid of me setting the choker on a dead native. That took like a min, so maybe 5-10 min with spider legs? I tend to over rig sometimes, but fuck it, it makes me feel better.

    Crane for sthilmadd

Ha, that's the nice thing about rigging the tops, no saw. Of course I had to strap on the big bastard for the stick, but oh well. Someday I'll charge the go pro and attempt to make an actuall video. Last pick went 17000 ish crane op couldn't quite pick it so I had to rip a slab off the bottom.

Your least favourite tree to climb, and why.

Forgot to mention, any palm tree with a huge dead skirt and plates still on. Taking the dead skirt off and de plating, that shit will make you re think some life choices

Your least favourite tree to climb, and why.

They suck for sure. I once watched an old foreman of mine years back chase a salesman through the office with a honey locust thorn because he underbid the tree. My least favorite are the western shit bid, also know as the "what the fuck were you thinking";)

Light rigging natural crotch rope question.

No targets, just paying some respect to the old school gods. That I can understand.

    Slip N' Slide

Ha ben, I see the dodge you are referring to.... Were you getting a lot of movement on that partially failed base while you were up there? I def would have been a little keyed up being tied into that and roping off of it. I could see you making some larger cuts in maybe shall we say not optimal...

Light rigging natural crotch rope question.

Maybe time to get out the bull rope and a block.. I have much love for the old school, but that just doesn't make any sense. If that's an old pic then cool I'm with ya.

Nice work by everybody involved in the comp. Good times. Ray is really fast, and of course mr Chisholm is no slouch himself. When I saw him taping towels to his shins for the speed climb I knew it was on!
