    Help with Planting Large Trees

Make sure it's staked extra well, the weight of the root ball is what keeps things from tipping over readily.

Anybody going to ISA in Detroit?

We're trying to see how many of us can go. With the babies it's hard. Debated just sending David and Aiden.

    China !

That span across the skyscrapers was nuts. They just let folks climb out. Ofc they're tired in but still! It's so pretty.

    Help with Planting Large Trees

We have a shrub bucket on our tractor, like a spade shovel, that we use for digging and to carry large root balls (strap it to the bucket contour). On larger trees we've occasionally used the air spade to clean the roots off and address quality control issues. Also can make transport easier...

The beer tap was wild. Active market correction for fair and equitable pricing? My American mind couldn't fathom. There's arborists there! What a beautiful place.

    Wildfires

The most succinct summary I've found. Not mine, stolen from LinkedIn because it raised points I never thought of.

That's it! He's in VA right? Willow oak has weird leaves.

    Rigging Point Failure

Thank you for the learning lesson. It looks like there could have been parasitic rot, so even though there was a good bit of meat around the hollow, the tissue itself looks compromised. Species would help. Any fungal signs in the canopy? Ganoderma comes to mind. Anymore when I'm rigging on...

    Wildfires

Are the fires worse in intensity than in the past? Or are they simply more numerous and remote? Additionally, if they really aren't as intense as claims make it seem, is the issue now that media spreads the information quickly, and there are simply more people being affected by the impacts of...

    Wildfires

I understand the lightning strikes and how smoke can affect weather patterns. I guess my question is, is that truly enough to cause the massive fire patterns we've been seeing over the last 10-15 years? It feels utterly hopeless. I've watched as the PNW and Inland NW keep burning more and more...

    Wildfires

Yeah there's no "cleaning up the woods". Mismanagement from cutovers is one thing... Who wants the woods to look like a park? That's the key, dry weather and dead soil.

    Wildfires

That's what I'm seeing, it's a fragmented issue. There's hundreds (nearly a thousand) small fires. And Canada is HUGE, remote, and rugged. Are the fires happening in managed (or previously managed) areas? Managing underbrush is easier said than done in many areas. Is the answer an army of skid...

    Wildfires

I'm not getting a clear read, other than literal climate change, as to what is causing the fires. I'm not privy to Canadian politics/management practices. Why is this happening? What can actually be done?

    Wildfires

My friend evacuated his in laws from up at the boundary waters in northern MN. The father in law was chewing him out because he's asked to get firebreaks and mulching done for years (friend owns mulching company). Jeremy had to explain that the land there is very remote, rugged, rocky, cliff...

I was thinking about you in this. How bad is it up north? I know some folks who've been evacuated up near Ely.

I can finally not get chunks in my mouth. It's felt like sand. Lol. They're saying it'll clear up soon if we get rain. Much cooler today as well.
