    My guess is the pulley makes for slightly easier adjustment of the hitch up and down the rope. At 19:57 he uses another pulley apparently as a swing limiter plus as rope retrieval aid. Haha we are bothering to analyze a 2 y o tree vid so I guess that is proof positive that Reggie is next...

    I'm seeing similar symptoms on some white pines in SW CT and suggest drought/dry conditions are the, er, root cause. Which I guess is part and parcel of winter burn.
