    Courant Squir

I have it in Squir 2.0 in red. I use the Vertec with pulley. I think I’m on 2 or 3 and get creep sometimes. I’m probably 165 with gear. I washed it with Teufelberger Scrubba. I’m going to wash and soak it again. The water was pretty milky looking 1st washing.

    Dump bed issues

Battery sounds low. Should be 12.5-13 with everything off or disconnected. Running voltage should be 13-15. Take it to have a load test. 10 volt pump on is low.

    This week’s Rec climb 8/6/26

Yes. The photo is deceiving because I was down hill when I took it. The top is flat. The highest branch was the deadwood I removed. The TIP was definitely not ideal and less than 45 degrees. I threw my other rope to the end of the limbwalk for safety. I then slid my lanyard along another...

    This week’s Rec climb 8/6/26

I’m slowly getting back to what I love about tree climbing. Not always working but, just climbing for fun. If I can occasionally mix the two, then it satisfies my need. Elm tree no vertical leader. It’s kinda wild looking. It was an interesting climb. Removed some deadwood on the way using a...

use tail to setup secondary system

I really didn’t like using my tail. I have had to bail out because of hornets, water pouring out of cut and my gut telling me something not right. First two obvious and didn’t climb that day after the 3rd one. I have been using an access line with my Vertec for several months now. I bring up my...

    Shot Hole Japanese Cherry

Yes. Very wet started in May through now. Kinda what I was thinking. If it survives, clean it up and treat in spring.

    Shot Hole Japanese Cherry

Is there a drench or injection treatment to help with shot hole? It’s about 25-26” DBH and 26 years old. I think it’s kinda big to be spraying with the equipment I have. The Cherry is already losing the leaves. It usually does drop early here in TN. There’s buds waiting for spring and...

    Go to canopy anchor?

What size for a floating ring canopy anchor? Something like this in photo. I want it to slide down but, not so the knot pulls into or through. I don’t have any small rings and I’m trying not to experiment. I use 11.5-11.7 ropes.

Technique for climbing dead tree while TIP in another.

I have a strict no climbing dead tree policy, especially ash. Sure I’ve lost jobs but, I’m still here. If I have a TIP in another tree or high line then sure. Be safe out there…no amount of money is worth getting hurt or killed.

    Volunteer Trees for growing

I get a lot of seedlings in my garden and fence rows. I’m trying to save some. My wife wants my volunteers out of her vegetable and rose gardens.

    Volunteer Trees for growing

I actually get both but, you’re correct about forest saplings. They seem to get deeper and wider roots quickly. Probably more seedlings.

    Volunteer Trees for growing

What’s the best method to save saplings? I get all sorts of saplings and would like to save some to plant in my yard and share with neighbors. Do I transfer them into pots or a raised beds or both.

    What's killing arborvitae?

What’s the variety of the arborvitae? I know the American and Green Giant thuja seem less likely to get the diseases. I see a lot of discussion on local social media about them dying. I’ve looked a few and it’s always the oriental varieties. My 2 cents.

    Is cat rescue tree work?

Looks like work to me. I get tired just watching your videos.

    Work Photos

I’m still chasing hangers on my forestry gig from the January Ice Storm. I’m studying how to “safely “ climb above the damage. I ended up advancing my climbing line to the other leader to get my positioning. I have started using an access line and bringing up a second climb line. I don’t do...
