What’s the best method to save saplings? I get all sorts of saplings and would like to save some to plant in my yard and share with neighbors. Do I transfer them into pots or a raised beds or both.
What’s the variety of the arborvitae? I know the American and Green Giant thuja seem less likely to get the diseases. I see a lot of discussion on local social media about them dying. I’ve looked a few and it’s always the oriental varieties. My 2 cents.
I’m still chasing hangers on my forestry gig from the January Ice Storm. I’m studying how to “safely “ climb above the damage. I ended up advancing my climbing line to the other leader to get my positioning. I have started using an access line and bringing up a second climb line. I don’t do...
I tried this yesterday. Working pretty good for now so, I’ll adjust as needed. I’m liking the few suggestions of going to the harness “somewhere.” Thanks
I’m looking for attachment points for my knee ascender. I normally attach the bungee to my chest harness but, I feel it pulls too much. It finally got on my nerves and I’m going to do something about it. Tired of just putting up with it! It seems too counterproductive dragging my system down...

I talked to my brother who owns a drone company that does lidar, mapping and visual inspection. He uses large commercial $40k drones so those don’t apply. He says the slightest wind is going to blow the smaller ones around. The extra weight throws off the sensors for hovering and positioning...
I don’t like Eastern Cottonwood from a climber point of view. I do like the sound of the wind in them. I’ve left most of the males. You reach up and grab a 1.5 inch branch and it breaks. I would not TIP less than 6-8 inches. I’ve cut down about 20 that were 100-120ft and too close to my house...
Made it to the last safe tie in tonight. Only took two years. I’ve been doing a lot of work climbing and more rec stuff. I helped at 5 comps last year and got numerous tips and tricks. I measured it at 90ft. This may be routine for some of y’all, but it was a satisfying accomplishment for me. I...
