Relatively shallow sinuses. The lower bark doesn’t look super silver-ish to me, but maybe conditions vary out there compared to here. Were the leaves very pale on the underside with bery deep sinuses?
I am blessed to live among some amazing timber and to be able to turn logs into beautiful lumber. As I have gotten older it has definitely become my favorite part of the tree life that I live here. I’m like a kid in a candy store when I’m milling.Rico, I am extremely jealous.
I know what you mean…I’m like a kid in a candy store when I’m milling.
especially when it has been saved from the tub-grinderI know what you mean…
There’s something about opening up a log that just feels so right.
I tell everyone that asks about what we do with all the material generated from a tree removal that we do as much as possible with it.especially when it has been saved from the tub-grinder
For the last few years I have been taking much of my larger mill ends down the coast to a city dump that lets me dispose of it for free, and they turn it all into redwood/fir chips which they use to beautify the cities parks and landscapes..I tell everyone that asks about what we do with all the material generated from a tree removal that we do as much as possible with it.
That sounds like getting paid to do just the fun part to me!Five bushy spruces next to the lines; great one for a no cleanup job, just had to limb and buck and leave a mess. Customer said they know someone with a pulp truck to haul it all off.

Honestly that doesn’t sound too Silvery either. I could be 100% off, but now I feel like I need to know what species it was. Could a Silver really look entirely different from coast to coast?Relatively shallow sinuses.
Those co-dominant stems can be a time bomb. Looks like a nice day’s work!Five bushy spruces next to the lines; great one for a no cleanup job, just had to limb and buck and leave a mess. Customer said they know someone with a pulp truck to haul it all off.

I have seen intense phenotypic differences in Silvers at each 1500' elevation change, and coastal vs inland.Honestly that doesn’t sound too Silvery either. I could be 100% off, but now I feel like I need to know what species it was. Could a Silver really look entirely different from coast to coast?
I was definitely just wondering/ guessing!Honestly that doesn’t sound too Silvery either. I could be 100% off, but now I feel like I need to know what species it was. Could a Silver really look entirely different from coast to coast?
