Fu*%face Von Clownstick

I've read it before and I find living in the continuing era of capitalism marx's insights into its nature and function have only become more trenchant, not less. but ill save it for the thread

You should check more often. And maybe look into other sources for your news.

(Say, you think there’s any chance that a couple of the thousands of military age men Biden’s letting in every day might not love our country and do something horrible? Almost like it would be better to have a border or some system of selecting who we let in….)
Nonsense. The data post 9/11 is very clear. A majority of the terrorism being perpetrated on American soil is homegrown, with white supremacists, anti-government extremists, anti-abortion wing nuts, and the likes leading the way. I know this just doesn’t work out with your narrative, but you are far more likely to die from choking on a chicken bone than to be taken out by a jihadist.

The thousands of military aged men thing is baffling to me, been hearing that for many years too. There was a local tree guy with his shop by the railroad tracks. He claimed that there were shipping containers in the yard there with Chinese soldiers in them, living in the containers waiting for invasion orders. Makes you wonder what kind of crazy shit everyday people are walking around and thinking about.

Imagine living everyday thinking that there was an invasion force sneaking in this very moment, swimming across the Rio Grande.... then what? Where do they go? What's the plan? How do they keep the soldiers from falling for the average pitfalls of American life like weed, booze, prostitutes and scratch tickets?

We’re very obviously being invaded. There is no border. Poor people will naturally flood to where there is less poverty and more opportunity. But we can only absorb so many. Can we at least agree that there is a limit (physically and economically) to how many we can take? And that functional countries have borders?

The real problem is that so few of those who are arriving seem to want to be American. They want to be Mexicans or Venezuelans or Chinese IN America. We’ve gone from the melting pot to a bowl of granola. Everybody living in their own little cluster. Recipe for disaster.

If this is the case, why mention the military aged men specifically?

What are you basing this claim on? For one, what does "want to be American" mean? Also, have you met these people and they've told you that they don't want to be American?

How is that any different from being Irish or Italian or German in America

They (historically) came here LEGALLY. They crossed an ocean to BE American, not to be an Irishman IN America. A fantastic first step toward proving you want to be an American would be to respect our laws (insomuch as they even exist anymore).

If any of those you mention come in illegally across the southern border, they are no different than any other illegal migrant. Why? How are they different in your mind?

I'm going to take a guess here.... not white?
You got me. Can’t believe I’ve been outed. ;)

Or it could be that more Mexicans tend to cross our “border” from……Mexico. I haven’t noticed tens of thousands of Germans coming up from Venezuela. Have you?

People come for economic opportunity, its what drove immigration from those countries in the 19th century and what drives immigration now. I expect legally speaking, the process of immigration and naturalization is more complicated, more time-consuming and more expensive now compared to the 19th century. Chinese workers certainly found that out when their ability to legally immigrate was ended in 1882.

Is the hazard of immigration that economic opportunity no longer exists in America?

While your busy sounding like a Fox News poster boy screaming about the brown vermin invading our country you might want to do a little research on overstaying visas. Once again it ain’t gonna fit your ugly narrative, but the data is clear.

If Trump were to get in for a second term, there just might be a flood of Americans crossing the border in the other direction. And they will want to be Americans in whatever country they end up in.
BE LIKE ME OR DON'T COME, has no place in civil societies.

If what Trump is about is what it is to be an American, I'm not sure I wanna be an American. And before you reply with the cliché, "if you don't like it then leave", remember that that's a two way street, and even in 2016, Trump lost the popular vote, using antiquated technicalities of the system to take power.

The, "If you don't like it, then leave" people are great at saying that, but then they complain about Biden doing everything wrong. I don't see any of them leaving. Why not? Because they apparently don't like it.
If Trump gets in again the, "Live free or die" people should just go someplace and die, but they won't.
Just a lot of hot air being thrown about with no meaning what-so-ever by a bunch of idiots. Their only idea of living free is to be able to carry around an AR15 and pack a gun on their hip. Actual freedom is a total mystery to them.

Is the hazard of immigration that economic opportunity no longer exists in America?
In short, yes. The hazard of unprecedented, unregulated mass illegal immigration is the lessening of economic opportunity. And the irony is that these insane policies will hurt exactly those the Dems claim to want to help most. The poor (Americans and migrants) will suffer from drastically depressed wages, if they can even find a job. Face it; if you have 20 unskilled workers applying for the same job wages go down and you have a lot of unemployed who become a burden to the rest of us. Won’t happen tomorrow but it will happen if this goes unchecked. Madness.

I'm curious about what you mean by this and also how are you so sure that anyone does or does not "want to be an American?"
A simple and necessary first test of your fitness/desire to be an American: did you cross illegally or did you obey our laws and wait your turn? If your first act upon arriving in America is to break the law, you forfeit any assumption of goodwill or desire to assimilate.

If @Bucknut and his ilk had their way I probably wouldn’t be able to enjoy my favorite rainy afternoon snack. A homemade corn tortilla fried up in coconut oil, with local butter, honey from the neighbor, pecans, and a little cinnamon on top.

What the hell are you on about? (Looks delicious.)
