Rope Wrench - Hitch/Rope compendium.

Many ways around that....a VT with the last braid between the tether and rope clears this issue up...I love a michoacan on DdRT but never on a wrench...now I just use a 3/3 VT...CT pulley...don't wrench these days those it is very dusty...runners all day...

Why not? I've actually switch to using it both ways. Not sure why it performs better for me compared to any VT variation I've tried.

Don't get me wrong, I love the VT as well, just played with the Michoacan, while looking for a more compact hitch, and ended up loving it.

@ Worthaug, @ JeffGu; It looks like you two might be using the same stiff tether. Nice photographs from both of you showing your setups. Thanks to both of you for taking the time and trouble.

So, how are you liking the function of those stiff tethers? Thanks again.

Tim

I have one as well, @TimBr

They're the new stiff tethers from rope logic. They have an awesome little tending loop sewn in just above the eye/eyes that attach to your pulley. They're stiff, alright. I have the one designed for the HC, with the two eyes on bottom.

I noticed, mine at least, does not have that rubber bit on the top eye that worked kind of like a "spring" to set the wrench. But, it engages just fine without. I've had no issue. I absolutely love mine.

I prefer the shortie myself. I am still trying to find toe best pullie for the RW. I have tried the hitch climber, and the rope wrench pullie, the HC has unused holes, the RW pullie has a much larger gap between side plates then I expected.
I prefer RE oval bieners and would like to find a pullie that fits the 2 eyes of the split tail on the out side with the teather eye in between the plates, held fairly tight.

Sorry for the derail, but does anyone know who makes the Notch branded gear?

I think according to @Steve Connally, in this post,

http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threa...illtree-join-forces.33491/page-38#post-501826,

it is made by SherrillTree.

I think the idea for Sherrill is to manufacture a product with a more generic brand name that other distributers would not also mind selling. I can see how a company might not want to sell a product in their stores that has the name of a direct competitor splashed all over it. Smart move, in my opinion.

Thanks Tim, I wondered if they were just rebranded designs or originals not based on others. Also does st/ts do their own designing and developing and manufacturing in house?

That rubber band is under the heat shrink.

Notch Equipment is made by us.

That depends on the item. We source products. Asked on the factory's specialty, similarly to a company like petzl.
