X-rigging rings

Thanks. The ideas for their construction came from Oceans and Rajelectric respectively. They were both pretty easy to make.

What's the red cord around the throat for? Man, I've really got to make time to reread this whole thread.
That's another X-Ring on a prusik, which provides a better bend radius for the rig line rather than a single ring. If you look closely on the backside of the ring, you can see the ridge of the second one there, spliced to the prusik.

Oh, now I see it. So when was it decided that 2 rings were enough for terminal rig point instead of three?........I got a lot of catching up to do.....tomorrow maybe.

So when was it decided that 2 rings were enough for terminal rig point instead of three?...
I can't answer that one, at least about any decision making process other than what the rigger sees fit for the job (rig line diameter, loads applied, etc...). It has been stated that best practice is 3 rings.

2 XL rings bend radius is comparable to 3 large rings. Maybe better due to the size of the ring itself. Wouldn't make a huge difference if you add more either ..have to look at the outer side thats making up the radius really.
I got me a Old Fart beast whoopie and it is legit kit .Versitile , light , and super strong for being less than 5 lbs total. I will not quit gabbin about that thing as Steve found out . Glad your loving that Steve Connally , now just change out that ragged ass lanyard and you'll be set ..haha;)

Everybody is jamming me on that lanyard. Steel core. Loblolly pine bark damage. Those ffers really tear up my flip lines. The steel is totally intact underneath. I retire them when I can't get them through the rope grab easily.

The beast ring on the red prussic is not spliced. Its girthed. There is a small ring on a smaller prussic to make a basket config. I take the beast off the red prussic and lock it onto the whoopee with the small ring on a smaller prussic, girthed. You really need to take a look at the old farts video of it. It's the cats meow. So versatile and easy to operate. The bend radius of 2 beast rings is like 2.5" to 3". Way better than any block out there.

Boom! Boomsling! Slung! (Plus a ring loop)
Wish I had gotten 1/2" tenex with the large rings or 5/8" with the Beasts.. oh well its gonna work awesome!

3 larges=2 Beasts, either is approved for terminal rigging point. The way I have it configured is just for the photo. I would timber or cow the double ring and prussik the loop to the ring side for terminal rigging point.

Finally.......I have gotten through the entire thread.....and on a phone. Now I've got to build an OF beast whoopie. Thanks for all the info folks. Really appriciate it.

There's a learning curve, but it isn't anywhere near as difficult a curve as you would expect, especially hollow braid.....and it isn't as if you don't have access to phenomenal teachers over in the splice rack threads.
