I've never spliced.that's why I was going to tie a knot.is there a video of how to splice it

Very easy to do

Putting an eye in with just one end of the rope? A little more difficult, bit can be done. ( The measured distances he's speaking of is for the dia. of rope he's using)

While making your eye, insert your X-ring.
