X-rigging rings

For those of you who like light strong rigging. Sorry no pics. But today I needed some MA but was light on rigging because I wasn't in my regular truck but i figured out a new trick for my xrr rr fs.
I girth hitched my rr fs around a small tree and ran the rope through one ring then back up to a small block tied midline then back down through the other ring then I tied a taught line to that last return line.
This gave me MA 3:1 plus a locking anchor all out of my climbing bag.

Thanks xman

We will make a sailboat guy out of you yet Kevin. They are very handy for MA applications. If you get a chance, take a look at some of the sailboat sites and their mast rigging. Them guys do so really crazy stuff with those rings.

Random thought of the day, forgetting price and practically....How cool would it be to string 30 X-Rings sided to side and wrap them in a flexible tube. That would be 1 bad [pick a different word] rigging cambium saver.

You can actually get a little MA by going around an anchor point with your rope, then through a midline alpine butterfly, and back towards the anchor point. Nothing like pulleys but it gives you extra pull with nothing but a rope.

I've been using a single large x ring as an anchor and tying my small block up mid line for a 3:1 have been using it a lot

Does anyone run x rings spliced into 3 strand rigging line?
There are 5/8" and 3/4" rigging ropes that are super easy to splice but the mbs compared to tenex is squat, but on the other hand its cheap easy to use and plenty heavy for lots we do, say in a r-r fs?

Kevin, I think Tenex is easier to splice than 3 strand. My personal opinion anyway. I started with 3 stand and I'm still a splicing novice. There's a learning curve with any of them. Not as strong as Tenex, but I will try stable braid next time for x rings. Still one of the easier splices. Especially with larger diameters like rigging rope.

Good point. I don't know why a long, stitched straight bury wouldn't work for the 2nd end. But again, I'm going with stable braid next time. It's more slippery (easier to girth on rough bark) and less apt to get picked strands.
