Looking to upgrade to a slightly bigger chipper. Demoing a 15xp and a BC1500 in the coming weeks to get it narrowed down but I’m open to used if anyone knows of one or is looking to sell. At least 140hp with less than 2000 hours. Thanks for any help or advice.

I will also be selling a clean 200xp if I can find the right chipper to upgrade to.

Thanks for the advice. I’m going to demo a Morbark 15rx also so I at least have 3 to compare. The 18x is little bigger than what I can tow with a full load of chips. I need to keep it under 8000. Although that’s an awesome machine.

You might also look at the XPC line of bandits. It basically allows you to up size with close to the same weight as the smaller xp model. ie 18xpc is approximately the same weight at the 15xp. But there are sacrifices when you loose weight! We didn’t demo the 15rx from morbark due to the 2 knife cutter head which showed to be a horse power robbing feature in the 12” class. But the m15r we tried was and absolute beast @ 9,800 pounds!!! We ended up with the 15xp equivalent bandit.

Yep I concur ! We demo’d a gas 15xp, hands down out chipped the 15rx, my older model 13 tornado out chipped it also, the rx has a smaller drum. I’m up in the air right now as to whether to go with an 18 “-20” chipper due to their weights and bogging our trucks down towing them!

Why did you end up going with the Bandit? Been happy with it so far? It does look a lot lighter than the 15r.

Mainly due to weight and the 4 knife drum. I have always run morbark, since ‘98, but the 1390xp I bought out chipped the modern morbarks hands down, except the m15r I tried which was 9800 pounds and just shy of 200 hp. I couldn’t tow it with a half load of chips!
Also the bandit salesman listened to my gripes about his machine and offered solutions. The morbark guy just argued with me about how efficient the two knives were over four.
Been happy with the bandit, I got the 130 hp gm. Little lacking in power when hogging wood to it, but we run 50-60% pruning so it’s not a big deal to me. Have been not so pleased with my dealer over warranty work but in the end they have corrected any issues I have come across. The promised loaner machine when break downs occurred didn’t materialize but we figured it out. Otherwise I would buy another in a heartbeat beat. Tough to beat their efficiency.

You’re right. The 15r is a monster!
