Stolen Stumper and Trailer in MI

Hey Buzzers, we had one of our dump trailers and a Bandit 2450XP(which was in the trailer) stolen this morning around 10:20am, broad daylight, from right in front of my partner's house. He and his son actually walked out and saw the guy who pulled up his face mask, jumped in the truck and sped away with the jack stand still down on the trailer. Trailer is a 12' Big Tex dumper with pintle and the stumper did not have the remote or tether controls with it. The truck was a 2003-2007 Chevy Silverado short bed extended cab with black rims, Victory Red paint color. No plate. If anyone hears anything please let me know.
 
Really sorry to hear! I’ll keep an eye out and listen but I don’t associate with anyone in that type of group that deals with anything stolen.

Brazen is the MO for some thieves! Hope you got your SN, model etc info in to the police asap. Maybe they would be able to track the guy via traffic cameras, security cams etc. Suspect they're not going to fence it locally but you could get stolen notifications into the dealer/servicing network. Might burn an unknowing buyer but you'd probably get it back IIRC. In the meantime, insurance coverage for theft?
 
Keep someone glued to marketplace we’ve recovered saws a few times. the company I work for got hit three times last month, twice on job sites and once while a crew was actually trimming and chipping, guy pulled up passenger hopped out snagged the saws out of the bins and drove out, unfortunately this better weather brings the thieves out. I think it was a few Years ago now that davey had a whole truck stolen, it was recovered they painted the entire bucket truck but couldn’t get the green and yellow to not bleed through lol. Massive disappointment though for you man I’ll keep my eyes out.

Sometimes general auto insurance covers trailers etc. ditto homeowners insurance might cover it if street side parking is included in the property coverage.. worth a call atleast
 
Any development on recovery on this?
Damn theives really suck. If they would or could work as hard as they steal…
 
Actually yes. Through some perseverance, luck and connections we have identified the thief and are just waiting for the Detroit Police Department to act on our information. He has an extensive record of doing things like what he did to us. I've already accepted the loss but boy would it be cool to get our stumper back. We just bought it 6 months ago and have been using it alot, and have lots of work booked that have stumps. The trailer would be great to get back too. Having two trailers makes it so we can have two completely outfitted crews when needed. I'll update the thread if anything else happens, thanks for asking @Neill

Really glad you found out who did this and hopefully DPD can put that low life sob behind bars where he or they belong!
