I love big old pecan treesFirst climb in a Pecan. It’s a beautiful tree and needs to be cared for and the owner brought the house because of the tree. It was about 80ft and I wish I had more time to explore. The owners want it properly pruned in the future so, hopefully I’ll be back. I removed some branches off the roof and 2 dead wood from the leader. Craig

Nice! That's way bigger than the pines I remember in Florida when I was growing up. I've been through that way a lot, and that part of GA is really beautiful. Thought about moving there once or twice.Haven't been in one this big in a while. Three feet DBH with four broken limbs hanging along with several dead limbs and a bonus hanger way up and way out. They want to get it cleaned up before repairing the fence which got pushed part way over by Debby. I got two hanging limbs and several dead limbs on my climb this morning.

I used a throwline to pull down the way out way up hanger. It landed nicely with no damage to the fence.

I'll have to make another climb using the left side of the TIP to get the rest. That'll put me in a better position to deal with what I couldn't see clearly from the ground.
Nice Pecan.....I was surprised to find one in rural NY. I didn't think they grew in my parts.First climb in a Pecan. Me tooI love big old pecan trees
Why not another pecan? I think they mature faster than oaks.Me three. But my favorite pecan blew over on my house. So, I’m planning on planting Live Oaks in it’s place.

I already have a Pecan off to the left side of my house in that picture. Plus I’ve heard that it’s best not to plant the same species in another tree’s former location. Nematodes and a depletion of specific nutrients, not to mention species specific diseases. Why not another pecan? I think they mature faster than oaks.
On second thought, I think I’ll plant the largest Silver Maple that the nursery has to offer. My clients seem to think that is the best option. Why not another pecan? I think they mature faster than oaks.

I run 12x50 for my personal pair and 16x50 at work. Can pick a Jap Beetle off a rose at 1000 feet.I just finally invested in binoculars, and I am feeling like I did after my first foot ascender. Like, why didn't I get this at the beginning?!
wow, you must have steady hands or do you use a tripod?I run 12x50 for my personal pair and 16x50 at work. Can pick a Jap Beetle off a rose at 1000 feet.
