Will crane = Lazy?

Here's a few shots from the dead oak job. I only did one of the dead oak jobs, Smokey did another with his crew, but I never got any pics from there.

This is the shot from the street. Dead Red Oak. Too bad too, because we've pruned every tree in her yard a few years back.

Turf damage- HA! Show that lawn no mercy! /forum/images/graemlins/icon311.gif

Yeah, it dug in. We had logs there to stop it if it rolled down the lil hill, but it dug right in. I had to fill some dents.

Log truck worked great here as did the log dolly. Good team.

(I know Todd, Junk right?)

The crane cannot be held responsible for your own laziness. Does the climber get lazy or is the ground crew that reaps the rewards of the crane? If you are the type who sits and waits for the crane to put in position for setting chokers that is lazy, however if your still moving around setting chokers its still climbing and sometimes climbing faster having to get into position before tha ball gets back. It all depends on the climber and what side the bed he got kick out of that morning.

I'm still in the infantcy stage of crane use, I'll check back once a get a few more in under my belt.

Mark , love the long arm of the clam very very useful

Sold a grapple to a guy in Illinois, 2 man company, he had a radio controlled crane built, told me he runs it himself in the tree !!! sets the chokers and goes down and cuts her then flys it out to his groundie in the street chippin!

tnt...do ypu have more info on the remote crane? Ive been looking at different radio remote controls.

I'm brand new to the buzz and am looking into buying a crane and have a few questions. From what I've seen out there, it's buy a 17 ton or a 23.5 ton. Giuffre Brothers in Milwaukee said I can get a 17 ton under the CDL. But would a 17 ton be enough over the long haul. We've rented both and there's a big difference in price. We've done alot of crane work with Dawes Crane but these are usually with 40 and 50 toners and their price is way out of the realm. Is this the place where I ask these questions or do I need to go to a different section?

If you can get a 17 that's under CDL, I would go for it!

And welcome to the Buzz, Myron!
