Will crane = Lazy?

thanks mark chrisholm for the photo of the remote! love the photos of your crane w/grapple! i've been working with a company to build a tilting grapple to go on the end of my crane. the company had a product on the market in europe called "the tree doctor" in 2004. it was a grapple that tilted and, get this had a saw! they had to pull it from the market when eucman types pushed the limits and caused accidents. glens, to answer your about boom extension, most major brands of knucklebooms have sequence valves on each ext. cylinder. this makes the lower ext. fully extend first all the way one by one. the extensions past the third knuckle have their own sepperate control lever.

Mike,

Thanks, your truck is very cool. A good idea for crane use. Ours is a logtruck that can be used as a cran for shorter stuff (68.5').

Here's a shot of the grapple we have, but with a saw as well:

So as each inter-knuckle segment extends fully one-by-one, does the outer-most one extend first or last?

Mahk, I did sharpen the images a tad.

Theres a company in Chicago, Sunrise Tree that hangs the grapple right on the ball. he can hang it horizontal or vertical. Works like the ericson sky crane grapple. They swing her in and grab hold, climber stays low NO CHASING THE BALL!, /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif Coolest setup I have ever seen on a crane. Imagine the time saving coupled with your radio control, Awesome Iron.

If Ya Love mov'in wood, ya gotta love Iron. /forum/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Well maybe its really if you hate mov'in wood you gotta love Iron.

the weather here is just starting to get hot. my crane's not making me lazy, but hot days can take a toll on ya'. i could've done this 18" pine in the back yard easily (climbed, de-limbed, hauled it out the tiny gap between the bushes) but i had fun doing the lazy way! (fly up on the crane, set a couple slings, cut at the ground, and stuff in the chipper) adjacent property had this spacious parking lot.
