Removal ball for rope guide and redirect
Handsaw

What he said plus a figure eight and a ditty bag with a scrench and a blood stopper.

Anything else is specific to the job at hand.

Like Tom, but also a blood stopper pack. I just tie my figure 8 to the end of my ascension line since I usually descend on my climbing line.

I'm also amazed at how often the websling comes in handy

I carry a webbing sling with a captive eye biner as well. Figure 8, hand saw, bungee saw lanyard, personal lanyard and in my ditty bag I carry Atlas type gloves (use them only when I need to), a micro pulley, spare biner, boat swivel snap (when not in use), cell phone and dip. Today I wish I had a magic weather button that would make it stop raining...

Way too much crap on my saddle. Think I climb with four webbing straps, about four extra biners, lanyard and clip, my rescue 8, micropulley and friction hitch, footlock prusik, adjustable friction savor (if not set on the ground), gloves, huge handsaw, cigarettes, lighter, knife, sometimes the 200T...
I feel like the straps prepare me for just about anything. I added these to my junk about six months ago, and since then have found a lot of uses. (Like hanging the chainsaw on a limb while I worked through some crazy crap in the top of a pin oak).
Yeah. I wish BS in the mdwest was on more, he carries the most crap of anyone I know.

You'll get over it. After a while you'll narrow down to only what you really need for the job at hand. One good dyneema sling and a biner will do a LOT of stuff.

On the saddle:
<ul type="square">[*]lock jack
[*]swivel
[*]extension webbing to use the LJ as a hip prussic or split tail
[*]several triple locks
[*]ditty pouch with
2 spare eye &amp; eyes with pulleys and biners
terrycloth towel for sweat, glasses and blood

[*]figure 8 way in the back,
[*]8 foot sling with pear biner for muenter or for holding the rigging line below the natural crotch
[*]couple of runners for redirects
[*]hand saw,
[*]misc biners for light rigging
[*]lanyard
[*]longboy
[/list]

Also wear a conterra radio harness (the guys call them man-bras of all things) in that I carry a knife, cell phone radio, pen and meds.

Been experimenting with some talkabout hD throat mikes. Seem to be working ok but have to tweak the connections to make them work more consistently

I agree the extra web loops and a stock pile of triple locks are key! I think one of the most used "extras" on my belt would have to be the grigri. That thing has more and more uses every day.

Having gear that makes our lives safer &amp; our climbing less of an effort is a grate thing. I am though always lookin at each climbing situation as different, so what I take up clipped to me is always different, webbing sling is almost always close to hand though.

What do I use as standard equipment on my saddle?

2 split tales-1 for swabisch (standard), 1 for v.t. when doing srt on a spar.

a longer sling girth hitched to a d-ring for carrying a pole pruner and misc. applications.

A hand saw.

A chain saw.

2 bent gate carabiners

1 caritool (an accessory carabiner)

3 slings with carabiners.

A "Safety" lanyard.

1 rope snap.

I would never carry a crab into a tree... Always pinching... I could never get anything done.

Hand saw is vital,a spare biner, other than that you would be suprised what you can do with your lanyard and the other end of your climbing line. if you learn a munters itch you won't need the figure 8. K.I.S.S.

This is a must have for every climb
