what hitch do you ride?

VT 4 wraps 2 braids on climbing line (tachyon) and lanyard 1/2 inch arbormaster .Prussic cord is a 3/8 sta-set by New England Rope Is there any domestic supplier of Ocean polyester?

Schwabish on fl to ascend, because I find it easier to load, and loosen after loading, then switch to distel, one under, four over, with the hcp and op currently on arbormaster (bigfoot). I still sometimes use a blakes hitch 11mm when I am using spurs...

Hello

I have a kunt 4 wraps with beal 10mm on yale scorch works real good for me.

The same with my positioning lanyard.

I like the way the knot is very short, easy to grab it in a tight spot!

I grips well and runs good too....

thanks matt

I'm still trying to decide between a 4 over 1 under michoacan or a 4 over 1 under distel.

I'm climbing 10mm Tenex on 13mm Yale XTC, but I'd like to switch to something more heat resistant like Ice, OP, or Bee-Line.

How does Ice, being the smaller diameter 8mm tail, perform on XTC with these hitches? Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

I'm nervous to switch to the VT or related hitches given that I've only been in the trees a little over a year. I like that the distel/michoacan/swabisch grab more reliably without having to be re-set as frequently, but they still seem to lock up on me from time to time.

All suggestions welcome here...I'll ride low and slow...

I use a 5.1 michoacan with 8mm beeline on XTC. I think the 5 is a little much, but the 4 isn't enough, so I might try some new, 10mm cordage.

As far as michoacan vs. distel, I use both, but prefer the mich. The one major downside to it is, like the blakes hitch, the half hitch on the bottom causes one small part of the line to take a lot of wear. You just have to make sure to rotate your split tail between each use, if that makes sense.

Definitely try the 10mm beeline with the Michoacan... awesome combination. I have found that any binding of the friction hitch is pretty much eliminated with 10mm beeline vs 8mm. I have heard lots of positive comments about 8 and 10mm Ocean polyester, is it worth trying? I'm just so happy with beeline that I'm not really interested at this point. I'll cave eventually and buy a length.

Thanks, Russell

VT 4 wraps 3 braids with 8mm beeline on yellowjacket climbing line. Everything attached to one carabiner similar to Treestyler's picture of his setup except I like spliced eyes on my split tail for space reasons. I'm gonna try an 8mm Ice tail pretty soon.

I've seen alot of raves about the hitch climber pulley but in trying a similar setup with a double eye micropulley I found the second carabiner wouldn't allow my hitch to set properly.
Is this an issue with anyone else?
