what do you guys use ?

just wondering what you use / to help keep you chainsaws and equipment alive . besides good maintenence . i use lucas 2 cycle oil with seafoam in my saws consistently . i use mobile one syn oil in all my equipment with lucas syn oil stabilizer( the mobile one that is guaranteed to last 15,000 mile between oil changes ) .i still do oil changes every three thousand miles anyway . i also use lucas upper cylinder lubricant in my fuel for my chipper and dump trucks . it has help to increase my mpg . what do you guys/gals prefer ? peace !

Yeah I am Lucas fan as well.
Have to try and find the two stroke oil.

Thanks.

I have another year's worth of Mobil Racing 2T,(discontinued) and will prolly switch to Klotz when it runs out, as it is a very good product, I hear, and can be found reasonably priced. Motul, Maxima and Redline are also great.

I've run the Mobil mix for years, at 36 to 40-1 ratio, with zero issues. Most of my saws are woods ported--nothing but the best for them.

I too run ported saws. Woods/Sedro Wolley. I have been using Stihl full synthetic for near 5 years...

Before that, I used OPTI-PRO (I think that is the name)from Canada. Blew up 2 saws... 395 Husky, not cheap. I am more likely to believe it was a (former) crew member pouring straight gas in saw.
S0 - I changed to Stihl product AND never let any straight gas lay around. Never. Easy to remember after 2 piston repair bills.

*I do not put anything in my Diesel engines... just $4 per gal.

Still using MX2T. Got about two years worth left. 6.4oz. in 2 gallons. 40 to 1 ratio. I use old Stihl bottles to measure and carry.

In holland we have to use Aspen or Stihl Motomix fuel.
It is illegal to mix up your own fuel for company use. This because of the health issues with normal gasoline.

For the chippers (jo beau and Eliet super prof) I use the high octane cleaner gasonline fuel. No additives at all.

For the lubrication of the chain we all use the bio oil here so we won't spoil the environment.

Thats it !

The car runs on liquid petrol gas but my new 4x4 will run on diesel. ;-)

wow that sounds crazy that you are not aloud to mix your own fuel . never heard that before . what health issues are they talking about ? seems insane but then again goverment never seems to make sense !

So, governments adopting laws that will protect people and the environment and companies adhering to that law sounds insane? What's insane is governments capitulating to business that are only focused on the bottomline and are willing to do anything to optimize that including contaminate the very water we drink, the land we live on, and the air that we breathe. And in the end, cut jobs to enhance the bottomline anyway then decry the need for social programs for those that are out of work. Oh and if you think the unions are protecting anyone and your private pension funds are your security for the future guess again. They are the major shareholders in large corporations demanding a higher return on their investment further driving executives (bonused in stock options) to cut deeper and demand more concessions from governments. Where does it lead to? Poorer environmental standards, fewer jobs, reduced wages and benefits, and more money for the shareholders. Sure the pension might do better but you'll need it sooner!

Sorry, major derailment.... That's my rant for the day....

hey treehumper i am for protecting people and the enviroment but if you think that is what goverment is for you are wrong . i am not saying that gov is all bad but they only care about there bottomline , not yours . i would rather take responsibility for myself and not depend on any gov hand out . all i meant by my post about gov being insane is that it is illegal there to mix 2 stroke oil with your fuel . why not just provide a safer cleaner mix if they are so worried about us . let me ask you , do you trust your goverment ? would you want them to dictate your every move and tax the sh*t out of you for it ? by the way we are the cleanest and most productive nation as it stands right now , but as we move towards more socialization i think we are heading towards trouble . why work so hard for yourself and your family just so the guy that is not working gets half (or more ) of your pay check .maybe that works for you but it doesnt work for me . america is great because of our freedom and capitalistic ways . i work hard to better myself and so my family can hopefully have a higher standard of living . when businesses are kept privatised it creates better business . competition between companies creates better business because you want to provide better services and prices then you competitors . if you only had one place to go for your service , like gov healthcare per say ,it could be the sh*ttiest health care where else are you going to go ,but when you have companies competing for your business you get better service and lower costs .

sorry bro i want to live free not in a dictatorship . if a company pollutes illegaly they should be fined . if they do it again maybe they should be shut down . i feel that we can have industrialization and conservation at the same time . we should have standards to abid by . i think you just took my quote about insane gov way way wrong . are you ok maybe you just had a bad day .take care peace !

Exactly, I'm not about government being in business I'm about establishing regulations and enforcing them not maybe enforcing them depending on whether there's an election or not. It would also be nice if corporations actually upheld the law because they have their "stakeholders" interest at heart. Instead it's just the shareholders that are taken care of and everyone else be damned.

Unfortunately what we're seeing is the opposite of healthy competition. Don't for a minute think companies, particularly big multinational corps., aren't sucking from the same government welfare teat. Just read what the third richest person in the world had to say about taxation. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/15/opinion/stop-coddling-the-super-rich.html.

Like you I've worked hard to improve the lot of myself and my family. I'd just like to see a bit more balance in the world.

More often with "competition" its a race to the lowest common denominator not improvement.

End of the day, I still get up and get the job done trying to maintain my ethics.

Like I said, just a rant. Overall it was a good day!

This whole discussion about government is nice but at the end we where talking about fuel and what we use.

I have been using Aspen fuel for about 12 years now. We had the opportunity to test normal fuel mix and aspen (or motomix) at the company I started out working as a treeclimber. The results where obvious and that's the main reason all the climbers out here use this Alcyate fuel.

No more headage, not being tired all week, and feeling dizzy and so on. Its for your own healt and its even better for the environment so for me it's a clear case.

we have tested it out and had to write down everything and at the end we all came up with exactly the same things when using normal home mixed fuel. After some weeks off using alcylate fuel we had no more problems with these annoying little things the normal fuel caused.....

take care of yourselves and climb safe

Yes, treestyler - I agree. I think (us) americans are just all freaking out these days. Government, blah blah. whine. Same old kings and queens.

But! I followed your thread. Gasoline is nasty stuff and I try to be aware of this while filling my saws, etc.
I worked (when 18 yrs old) in a fuel and lubricants factory before I said screw it, I want to work outside. Now I climb big trees and try not to get killed!

I think it is coming (to america) - fuel premixed in a jug. No more 'freedom' of mixing our own! A little regulation may be o.k., just keep things in perspective or you'll become a teabagger like all these wingnuts here

In reality, I wouldnt mind the cost difference of having to buy quality saw gas all mixed up. It may be the way to go because of the amount of ethanol and water present at the gas stations. even premium, and it is every gas station now. Are the containers recyclable? I burn through a lot of gas and it would be hard to buy cases of that stuff. It seems like some sort of infrastructure would need to be in place which we don't have much of here in the states. My saws definitely suffer because of their fuel right now.

I would agree that I suffer from the fuel too. There is nothing worse than the feeling of flush cutting a stump and sucking the muffler. I can feel myself get older.
