Violence, gun culture, what can be/should be done.

Another is the slackened gun laws in some states. NH ME GA and VT being some. Between those states and gun show laws we will have the wrong guns in the wrong hands for some time to come. I own I carry and I think there should be some agreement among states and the laws regarding Guns.
 
Oddly, the states with the least restrictive gun laws have less crime, to boot.

But when everybody compares crime rate stats by country, it doesn't account for our laws not being the same across the whole country. So the restrictive states with their higher crime inflate the numbers when they're averaged.
 
I reckon you dont need a permit for holding a gun license, my neighbor has rogue doves that attack my families clothline so I should well and truly have a semi auto matic shot gun, in the laundry pantry, at my disposile. Those flying critters move quick!

My favorite skeet, turkey, and deer gun is a semi-auto shotgun. (rifles aren't allowed in MA for turkey and deer)

I am licensed to carry concealed. Whether it makes any difference to you or not I don't know, but I have stopped one burglary and an auto theft at my home because I know what to do with my weapons.

I said it before. Educate Educate Educate.
 
Oh, I get the sarcasm. We must be doing something right, though... More people are leaving and coming here than the other way round.
 
I gotta say the US is nice and the people are champs. Often more hospitality than in Canada. Lots of positives with some negatives that are obvious.

More Americans watched Honey Boo Boo than the Republican convention. She should of ran, same demographic.

Can we get back the mental health issue? Last night, as I helped to convince a dear friend to get into an ambulance "voluntarily", I witnessed first hand how incompetent our EMTs and Paramedics are in dealing with mental health issues. He'll be in the psych ward for ten days minimum. My point? None really, not at this point, it's still to soon. Thanks for letting me vent.

Actually I think that's a good idea!

I think that the guy's mental health was the major factor here, but it baffles me that not only did he have access to these guns but that his mother owned them, why? why? why? I understand the reasons brought up here like defense from animals and burglars, but in my opinion automatic and semi-auto weapons are way overkill for these jobs, really if you can't hit or intimidate what you need to with one bullet you shouldn't own a gun, but that's just my opinion.
 
Possibly true. As far as not needing multiple shots, I'm not so sure. As an Elk hunter and living at sea level, after even a fifty yd dash to get on a heard at ten thousand ft I am winded at have a hard time hitting a stop sign let alone a small target. My point is, in a real world situation with adrenaline pumping, unless you are trained to handle it, most will never hit their target. A single shot weapon will only leave you as the target.
 
He clearly says in the beginning that full auto defines it as an assault rifle, flash forward to 8:27 and he says he doesn't know what an assault rifle is. I learned a little bit from the modular hunting rifle but not much. I also noticed that his hunting rifle had about 6 rounds in the clip and his comparable AK(semi auto) had about 18. IMO this video is pointless, the creator contradicts himself.
 
He was referring to the media's arbitrary definition in comparison; to them, everything is an M16 or an AK47, and if it looks mean it must be an assault rifle.
