I wasn't comfortable with the rigging line tag running through a biner on his saddle but maybe that is more common than I know. However it did not stop me from watching it 5 times. Great vid and that dude is having a blast.

That was merely a retrieval line, and nicely set up with a pinto pulley to help it to run free

I was spooked by it initially, but after a couple watched I'm on board. I think I will use that for sure, I had havin to try and have the rig line flicked back to me in spreading trees. Cool use ! That guy was awesome
 
Dead Tree and no TIP from what I remember. I believe its allowed if it's the safest means to accomplish the task. I'm pretty sure I remember this being discussed on here a few years ago.
 
That's sort of what I figured, watched the video on my phone and couldn't see the details too well. I've never ridden with the load but I have cut th piece free while tied in to the crane and descended from there. Similar situation of a dead tree that I did not trust...
