Now what happens in the head is layers of crap fall apart, it's not one solid block, so little different. Some times you have to stop to catch bits and pieces.
So as you are cutting the block and approaching the exit you put a wedge behind the saw, resume cutting thru, that's right.
You can also snap cut them, or what I call bore-wing cut them when there's compression in there like that last big one.
I dunno, they're just that right diameter to go straight thru, the saw will cut straight thru no worries but what has happened is that the whole block I have cut has flown off the bar ... whooosh, look out below! /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif
So as I get within say an inch or two of the exit I put my left hand on top of the block and keep sawing with the bumper spikes (dogs) buried in just nice for the finale. Then when the bar's made it thru I stop sawing, tilt the block back and remove the saw.
That's what I do, I aint going to hide it coz I cut zillions of these weeds all the same way. I occasinally on a leaner or big fat bugger do other stuff but on the run of the mill verticle dudes I do this. The bar is all the way thru and I've never had a kick or anything ... nothing. They are palms though so soft.
On gums etc I'll snap cut or go nearly thru, remove the saw, then cut out just under on the exit side so the block sits down ready to be thrown off.
