Tulip spar bounce and roll

... Leave a stub or 3 facing the lay.. you know its going to dig in and put the breaks on. As long as there are no underground fixtures, its a lot more "known" than how much damage you;re going to do to your rope... Small trees may not be an issue.... but look at the one in Rico's picture.. How could ever trust that rope again???

Facing the lay?

Think it through.

It would be much smarter to leave stubs between 90° or 180° to the lay so the stub doesn't spear into the ground. Even 180° would limit trunk rotation to just 1/4 of a roll.

You speak much nonsense Daniel.

Facing the lay will make the stub into a lever or the spar into a pole vaulter. what happens if the stub doesn't dig in? Then the spar drops over...but which way?

For me...too many variables.

Much like the intentional barber chair, notchless felling, decaffeinated coffee, and nipple rings, friends don't let friends leave stubs. Nothing good ever comes from leaving stubs.
