BRT I order from treestuff and get it sent to australia so I understand the importance in correct order placement and the frustration when it is wrong on delivery. The difference I have experienced with treestuff as opposed to any other company I have dealt with both locally or o/s is the way in which the problems have been resolved by the staff without all the drama and b/s other companies have laid on me when it should be a straight forward matter to sort out from the start.
I really feel that treestuff are making a difference in the industry and hope that you will give them another try.

Today I got my order. There was a mix-up on my part, and their's.

I ordered common grade cable--which can't be used with the rig guy cable stops. Gotta have EHS. Duh! :tonto:

They sent me a 48" bit instead of the 60" I ordered.

After a phone call, I believe we've got it sorted out. Spoke with Lindsay, she was very polite and helpful. They are going to handle the shipping swap. :)

So, I will probably take John Kays' advice and place a few more orders before "making my final verdict."
Wow, ALL the evil stars aligned. You must be special or something. You know what it is...it's because we told you to try Treestuff over other companies and highly recommend them that this all happened. The universe is trying everything in its power to mess with your first order in hopes that you will not trust anyone ever again.
I should make another order to see if it really is broken, yeah I should, I NEED to make another order...right? I am always looking for a reason to order from Treestuff.:sisi:

Anyhow, they do make things right if things go wrong.

I hope the universe rewards you :descansando:for your patience and understanding.
All the best BRT!

Treestuff has always done me well, and I order almost exclusively from them. But speaking of the Stars aligning, one coworker of mine has only gotten one correct shipment from them since he switched to them. However, because of their great customer service, we joke that he should make all of our orders for the free stuff they send him as an apology.

Received the adjusted shipment yesterday. Got the bracing finished today in short order. Installing cable tomorrow.

Thanks Treestuff. And I really like that 5' auger bit. Definitely better than the one Sherrill is offering. On their's, the flutes only extend 24" back from the cutter. Treestuff's auger's flute runs the length of the bit. Makes a real difference in how well those shavings get cleared out of that hole. Saves time & effort.

2--40" red oaks. Went with the "overkill" called out in the A300. Two houses to consider. In my neighborhood.

Nice looking job BRT. Thanks for the product review too. I would make a storage case for that bit out of a piece of PVC schedule 40 pipe. Cap one end and put a threaded plug on the other, then put a few ounces of light machine oil in it to keep the rust at bay.

Thanks oldoak!

Oh, and treestuff is one step ahead of you on the pvc, with end caps--it came that way. Will take your advice on the oil for sure.

Hey I just placed an order for a bunch of bits and bracing hardware with tree stuff....when I first saw the pick of that tiny drill with that huge bit I figured it got stuck...must be a good bit for that tiny drill to prevail eh? Nice work!

Was even wondering how to store them...you guys must be reading my mind or something?

It's a 1/2" Ryobi hammer drill...and while I wish it had more m'ass at times, it gets the job done. But yes, the key is the sharp bit, and a reverse :D

Man, I wish I knew about that Black Friday sale! Could of saved me a few bucks!

I live in Canada so unfortunately shipping from the states is never free.. I love treestuffs website and I bought 90% of my gear through them.

Just getting into rec climbing - hard to justify so much money but you guys make it look so fun.

I went through their Canadian dealer (the tree whisperer) and I ordered at the beginning of this week so I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Shipping won't be fast for me however I understand why. They have a wide variety or gear and good pricing that's why I chose them over others.

Looking forward to my order and spring!!

Even with the atrocious exchange rate and expensive shipping it is still cheaper for me to buy from TreeStuff than any local brick and mortar or Canadian online supplier.

The exchange rate is ridiculous! It's why I try and find coupon code to help break it up. I never found any online supplier offering a 'web catalog' of products. Even finding suppliers was a bit of a challenge. It's almost like you have to be in the biz to know where to shop.

BRT, in your third photo of the through-bolt. it appears the nut and washer are sitting on top of the bark. They're not, are they? Impressive drilling, by the way!

Thanks! I believe you're talking about the very bottom bolt.... No, it does not sit on the bark; though it does appear that way because of the different angle the bolt goes through the trunk. The angles vary (ie. the longitudinal alignment is staggered) in order to reduce the chances of the formation of decay columns (A300, & ISA supporting material).

The other reason for that perception is that the countersink on each hole is very precise. The washers on these 3/4" rods were 2" dia. I used a 2" forstner bit (which is flat-bottomed) to "let" the washers into the bark; carefully not penetrating the sapwood. The reason some of these look deeper than others is that there were variations in the bark thicknesses in different areas, and on the 2 different trees.

Wow, I've never thought of using a forstner bit, what a great idea! I was taught to use a chisel and hammer to remove the bark for the washer, and while I'm always as precise as possible, there is no way to make a circular hole with a straight chisel. I even have a collection of forstner bits but never thought of using them in tree work. Nice job!

BRT, You can always email me if you need something or dont get what you expect. nick@treestuff.com or text me 440.989.0444
Its awesome and very important in business when you can get reply's from a company you deal with. If there is a problem, it happens.......Tree stuff has someone...Nick...who is involved and takes pride in what he/they do and sell. That is worth more than any advertising could get.

I teach a tree climbing class to university students, and when I told the folks at Treestuff about my class they sent me a box filled with free safety glasses for every kid in the class. How cool is that!!!?
