Here's an easy pic for the easyphloem, taken at yesterday's job.

Clue - Every Christmas, a mystery European capital city provides the cities of New York, London and Washington D.C. with one of these trees, which is placed at the most central square of each city.

Extra points will be awarded if you can name the mystery capital city.

Here's another easy one. I need more pictures...

Gleditsia triacanthos or Robinia pseudoacacia

How about this? Native to Western Himalaya. One of my favourite trees, unfortunatley this young tree had to be removed due to view/light issues and had started to lean towards the house. Any pruning would have ruined it, so we took it down and the client is going to plant a new one further away from the house.

Gord- is it an elm of some sort...or maybe a black locust?

[/ QUOTE ]

You got it first nick, Black Locust Robinia pseudoacacia.

I think that next tree might be Cedrus deodara, it usually has the longest needles of the true cedars.

I agree with Nick & Gord. It's a Cedrus deodara.

What a shame it had to be removed... another tree sacrifice
due to not planting the right tree in the right place.
