No. But southern ontario is the northern extreme of this tree's range. They may not be as common there as here. However, it is uncommon as a curb tree.
Celtis, Morus, Castanea and Quercus acutissima share a leaf feature that this tree lacks. Look closely. Think native eastern forest tree that can grow huge in the right setting.
As an aside, based on examples that I have seen like the one in your pic, I use a few Nyssa here and there as street trees for Providence's program. So far so good. I even have one in front of my house!
