Littleleaf Linden, also known as small-leaved Lime (Tilia cordata)
There are many cultivars maybe the taller upright 'Fairview'??

There is a Japanese Lime (Tilia japonica) but it doesn't usually get as big as the one in the photo.

Yeah, Tom chose a good one this time.
Growing in the shade and thus a distorted growth habit (with lots of shadows) and the photo slightly out of focus.

It must be betulaceae. Tilia and carya have larger leaves/leaflets than this tree appears to have. It looks like an oak to the right at what appears a similar distance. Larger leaves? I wasn't aware that the european alder grew to such size. I'm only familiar with the speckled alder that I've seen in upstate Pa., along with the yellow birch.
