Trees from a distance

Haha - I like that guess, Boreality, but you've got to move down into the warmer temps for this one.
BTW this is the baby, the light-colored trees in the background are the adults.

Cedrus libani?

or the more common Cedrus deodara, since I don't get on here much anymore, I'm giving two, but closely related anyway.

Wow, Diane is back

Nay, I'm just stopping in.
I saw a lull in TFAD and thought I'd contribute to keep the flame alive

Nice guess. Its looks are very deceiving, though.
I had to walk up to it to really check it out.

Hint: It's not in the Pine family but in the Cypress.

OH, deceiving huh? I guess the shape is decieving then...

hmmm, maybe the same tree I just planted in my yard last month....

Cupressus glabra 'Blue Ice'

Good guesses all around, guys!

But...nada, nada, nada.

Waldo is in the right genus, but what's the species?
That's what's important about this one because this particular species adjusts its shape and form to its environment. That's what makes its ID difficult.

Hints:
1) It has 170 cultivars - so I'm not even going there with this one.

2) It's the one that keeps its juvenile foliage.
3) I discovered that a sub-species of this can
be found up in Boreality's neighborhood after all (sub-Arctic regions)!

And:
4) Think of gin and flavoring used for cooking wild game.

You're still king of TFAD, Tom!

Juniperus communis it is.

Attached is the close-up.

Hahaha....the 'throne' is always being sought after....

Unfortunately, Xman, your plan, logistically, won't work too well because of the time zones.
I'm always 3 hours behind you guys which is challenging in itself, as is not being on the computer every day.

But thanks for being so inclusive.
