Trees from a distance

Don't have a pic of that particular tree, sorry. It was a green ash though, defiantly right on that.
It was a very gnarly old guy. The spot where this happened was lower on the trunk where a small deadwood branch had been there for a while, while the girth of the trunk kept on going. I was defiantly surprised to see it happen, that why I took the pic i guess.

Thanks for letting me participate, this is fun stuff...

Wow, that was big wood for an Ash !
Too bad there was no photo of the whole tree - just to show size alone.

Okay,
if FJR is checking this thread and wants to post a pic he has a turn.
Otherwise, the floor will be open...

...and no, I am not the monitor of this game...there is no monitor of this game.... which makes it even better

Hemlock WAS what I was thinking. The buried branch attachment with the black compost looking material... I've seen it in split hemlock before. Oh well, would've been wrong anyway LOL!

I'll give another quick one. This one I think should be easier and also a testament to the craziness that sometimes shows when guys with chainsaws have no idea what they are doing. Not that I'm the only one, but this is my competition in a small town...
