You don’t understand what I meant. What I meant was, you of all people shouldn’t be talking about banning someone, because of all the people on this thread, or for that matter this entire forum; I think you would be a good candidate to be banned.

What did this Greene guy do to deserve being banned from this forum? He didn’t go nuts, cursing and calling people names (well, just mild stuff after he felt attacked). He didn’t do anything to cause harm to this forum. He didn’t cause harm to anyone here. What he did do was come here with a question and showed that he doesn’t know anything about proper rigging. He gave the vultures some fresh meat to tear apart and have a good time. You should be thanking him for giving you something to do.

I don’t think people should be banned, or very seldom. But since you brought up the subject; I will let you know why I think YOU should be banned.

I’ve seen you repeatedly put in links for other tree forums; mainly treehouse and sometimes arborist site.

Do you understand why this isn’t right?

This site costs money to run, it needs members, it’s a small business….

Here is a similar situation to help you understand if you are blind to the impact of your actions:

Let’s say you and your company are working on a tree job.

Then a guy walks off the street onto your customer’s yard while you are there working.

This guy has a sign with him and holds it up above his head, the sign has another tree service’s name on the sign and a phone number so that the customer and neighbors could call the number if they wished. The sign also says something like, “OUR tree service ROCKS!” (By the way, was that you a while back that had that huge banner in his signature that said, “TREEHOUSE ROCKS!” (I didn’t pay attention to who it was). ?

You’re not a business owner, so maybe you can’t even relate to this. But I’m sure other business owners understand how ignorant this is.

If some A-hole came onto my job with a sign for another business I wouldn’t take it so well. If I was having a good day, I might tell him to get the F--- off the property before I break that sign in half and beat him with it. If I was having a bad day and if I had to come out of my tree, I might just start with the beating.

You repeatedly act ignorantly on this forum.

It doesn’t make sense, you are either immature and ignorant to the impact of your actions (similar to a 15 year old) or else have some other motive or devious plan. It doesn’t make sense.

You aren’t 15 years old, cause I’ve seen you in a video before.

Usually rich, spoiled kids have no concept how their actions affect others, you aren’t rich are you? You seem so cheap, so I doubt that’s the answer. But maybe your parents are cheap, but have tons of money.

Another option is maybe you are the immature evil spawn of Hollenreich or something like that. Don’t get me wrong people, I did enjoy Hollen most of the time for the entertainment and he was never this immature.

It doesn’t make sense why you act the way you do.

You also have shown that you are interested in stirring things up (a lesser offense and not that big of a deal).

I think you’re lucky the moderators here are so light handed.
 
Its a shame that this is the forum that this bullchit occurs. Name calling, cussing, schoolyard behaviour. Doesnt happen on the tree house because there, respect is paramount. Butch doesnt take no chit.

Yes, it will hold up for a while. Here's the equation though; your risk might start out low but keeps increasing the more you use the rope that way, while the consequence always remains high.

The problem isn't really the rope though, its how you proposed to use it in the first post on this thread. That's just not how you should take apart a tree. Eventually working that way will produce major consequences. Our point is please get some pro training. I'm sorry I don't have specific answers for you. The answers you are looking for come from training and experience.

If you want to run a tree company that's fine. Why not hire a pro to be your aerial worker though?

again, shaking in your boots is a bad sign that things aren't right. But thanks for being honest once again.

It's a good feeling when you have learned enough that you can forsee everything that will happen, many steps ahead and set things up so that there is no danger and therefor no adrendaline/ no shaking.

On Friday I did a medium size oak removal. Dead, very rotten, likely 5 or 6 years. Over a fence and shed with some lean in the wrong direction.

No equipment access to the rear yard.

There was another tree service that removed several trees in the rear yard. When it came to this tree, the customer said they started to climb it, then came down and said they didn't want any part of it.

They were at least smart enough to walk away from something that they didn't know how to deal with.

I'm certain there was little, or no roots left on this tree and therefor very unstable.

We set up a high line to other trees (not in perfect line but good enough). So I had a safe tie in and didn't have to worry about my life with the trees instability.

Then, set up two guy ropes to give it more stability, so I didn't have to worry about property damage.

It is so nice when you take a "dangerous" tree and can see the danger, then set up a plan to deal with it and make it safe.

a neighbor came out and yelled to me, "you must have balls of steel!".

I said, "nope, you just have to set things up smart and then you can do it without worry."

I am looking to do just that hire on someone... I posted an add just tonight for that matter. Got a call today already, asked him if he knew what a portawrap was. He had no idea. To be honest if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't know to ask.

oh, yeah, J Greene is what us proffessionals call a hack. There are MORE of them then us and we all keep saying these guys need to be more educated and work like we do.

It's rare a hack comes to a forum and he could possibly be steered into NOT being a hack, so why are some of you guys not helping him?

You like to beat someone down to make yourself feel better?

I understand if his kind pisses you off so much that you want to take it out on him.

levi: I don't even know who the heck theXman is but I saw an amazing video of him at work. Please dont put him in the mudd with me. He don't deserve it. We are not affiliated in any way. Simply impressed by his work. Only common factor as it seems we both dont care much about nick... enough said.
 
This thread is a classic example of when an internet discussion forum goes into complete meltdown, the more posts are made the less sense it all makes.

I tried to start at the beginning of this thread and make sense of it all and gave up a few posts in, it's like travelling back in time and going to visit to a 19th century lunatic asylum, just voices, lots of insane voices.

I think the only thing (besides the website, and I currently don't even have a website, ugh) that bothers me is that good advice, and silly advice, and bad advice has all been offered, in spades, BUT, is there really any reasonable expectation that Mr. Greene will make an effort to "learn the ropes" above and beyond this discussion board?
We all had to start somewhere, but a hack will never progress past being a hack unless he treats this profession as more than a paycheque.

peloris: I'm fully aware of what you are saying. Trust me to have the best answer for felling a tree, perhaps not but, I do know the truth when I hear it. I'm far from flawless peloris but I'm not retarded. I listen to every word.
