Not saying I'm one of the pros here but I'm only a couple of hours away and am willing to travel for the right amount of money.
I am not a hack either.

Pm me if you would like me to come up for a couple of days.

I really hope you are joking Nick.....

Really? Is there a possibility of an elaborate hoax? If not he's hilarious. You have to realize jgreene33 we spent lots of dollars and time learning what we know. Just cuz you demand knowledge (like we all do) it still has to be earned. I went into my second year school with the attitude I wasn't leaving till I knew everything my instructors knew. Even outside of the course material. I think I made them earn their money but I'm sure I got my money's worth. Tearing up the entire tree library during the first year didn't cut it. I wasn't there for the diploma.

Seen that, seems like Mr Greene does exist thankfully....so Nick what's up with this confession, is that the HOAX and we got April Fooled........you can be a pain in the rump sometimes dude....you are getting to be the proverbial drama queen....awe well let's keep heading to the destination....page 13.....

I posted this vid 5 days before this thread started..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AurZWkRlELA

climbingarborist vid is pretty good for a freebie, though somewhat incomplete... the one important issue that he makes a mistake on is leaving too much play in the sling... keeping the block super snug and very close to the cut is important (reduces shock loads) when blocking down big pieces, though somewhat less important with big limbs than big wood..

I couldnt resist! April Fools. Mr Green is as real as he appears. I think :)

ISA published a video I stumbled across @2:08 into the video he does exactly what I've been doing please someone review this video. I've been well informed about shock loading. I realize what he is doing at this juncture in the video is exactly that. My question is this... Yes I realize im going outside standard practice but, that rope vs. the limb. How many times could it handle it? Seems like many many times to me. kinda like a 40' top vs. my winchline. I will employ some more advanced rigging techniques as soon as Im able. Just really wanted to hear some more about this topic since I found this video from the ISA itself how bad could it be? Assuming the Rope or sling used far overpowers the limb...

Just to clear it up..I was referring to Mr. Greene, not you Daniel.

Mr Greene I was serious tho about my offer. I would come up there for a couple of days. Show you the ropes. You were a lineman so you should be familiar with spikes. ( gaffs, climbers, or hooks) whatever you lineman call them. The rest will fall in to place with time and proper training.
