Tree Articles Sci. Am.

I found a couple of news articles through Scientific American magazine which may be of interest to some of the people here. 1 article talks about toppling of trees during wind events. The other talks about a man who has taught researchers how to climb trees to do research. Good articles. Notice Dr. Kevin T. Smith who posts on treebuzz is 1 of the interviewed for the toppled tree article.

Thanks Joe for posting the links. The "why do trees topple" article was inspired (provoked?) by hurricane Sandy and the aftermath. As usual with interviews, what goes to press may not be exactly what I meant to say, but it's probably close enough. Also interviewed in that article are my undergraduate classmate Prof. David Foster, Director of Harvard Forest and arborist Bill DeVoss of Vermont, who helped me expand from somewhat more "pure" (?) research into things arboricultural, quite some time ago. Thanks again.
