Three questions on your gear:

1. Are you using a belt only? If so, is that because all the work was done at the trunk and no need to "hang around" such as in a saddle?

2. Tell me about the pants...they look thick...and do they have some type of strap around the bottom (just above the knee)?

3. What is the round (approx. 6") item on your belt, looks like Tupperware? first aid, lunch?

And, BTW, your son took some very good pictures...thanks for sharing.

Thanks.

I don't mean to interrupt or answer for Greg, but he must be off climbing so I'll take a stab first. That "belt" is the New Tribe harness and has leg straps. And the round thing on his belt is a Spence Tape for measuring DIA and length. Am I right Greg?

I think that's Spencer tape....

What is that which looks like a rope tied around the butt of the dead top????

Hi , sorry for the delay in questioning. I had a virus , put me out of commission for a bit. Lost some darn good pics to.Bummer....

Gary, Those are are Arborwear pants. Good for those rugged days of climbing. As far as a strap goes abouve the knee ? I dont believe I have one on. It may be the spur straps your seeing ? That is a 66' scaling tape or Spencer tape as you may call it. Also, if you notice to my left side of saddle I have a Hi V line on my belt.I use it through out the tree depending on the cituation. I would rather have a line set as I ascend and strip, but it really gets in the way . In these cituations, I mainly use it when I know I have to cut and throw alot of limbs, take out the tops and descend out of the tree.

I'm surprised more people didnt mention the rope tied off to the butt of that top . Not a common place to pull a top and not recommended at all. However, I thought there was enough head weight to carry that top over in the direction I wanted. I was wrong and it sat back on my saw. I made my FC deep to counter the center line of weight and I knew it was going to be close, but not close enough. So, knowing it wouldn't take much, I placed the rope there and with a slight pull, it tipped.

Thanks
Greg
