Today....

i was told by a crane op that they will set it up with a different cable and with the shortest boom set-up, closest to the crane they will lift those 300 ton. obviously not very practical for tree-work.. it‘s more like a proof-loading.
I was basically told the same by my operator who runs a 50 ton. The only way to pick 50 tons is to be right next to the truck bed and have a multiple part block rigged up. It would need 10 pulleys if I'm not mistaken as his cable strength is 10,000lbs. Maybe a stronger cable of he can upsize, to allow less cable running through blocks?


From my understanding, the object would have to be so close to his crane, to pick that weight, that essentially no object of that weight would physically fit. If it did, all he could do is lift straight up and set it back down, perhaps for loading and unloading a trailer. They'd have to drive under/out from under the load, no swinging or booming out at that weight.
