Today....

A few assorted pictures from the last few days.

Took down a failed and hung-up cedar snag the other day, only to find out it was FULL of like 400 wasps and got stung a number of times in my face, hands, neck, etc. Even had the customer pulling them out of my hair and off my shirt for me after running away down the driveway...

Dusty dead juniper chipping.

Got my woodshed full for the winter just last night, 8-9 cords of perfect doug fir, almost all of it will be burned to stay warm this winter as I'm 100% wood heat.

A junky, previously topped alder removal today. Narrowed it up from the ground, then with a redirect, pulled it over away from the house with the chipper winch.

And most importantly, climbed a tree today for the first time in about two months after my shoulder/back problems. Felt good, though I took it easy and went at about half speed. Partly to ease my way back into climbing, partly as I was teaching my new employee/green climber how to do it as I worked. Getting back into a tree and it going well was certainly a nice boost to my mood.

Rad to see you running the F450! Looks great paired with that 12xp.

I learned a long time ago that if you slow down and take the time to make clean mechanically sound cuts your woods seems to go exactly where you wanted it to go..Go figure?
I have to say that you are quite the artist. A friend once told me “don’t practice u til you get it right. Practice until you don’t get it wrong”. Good job with what you do Rico!

One of the fun days this week. Black locust that was actually fun to climb with a delicate drop zone. Hazardous deadwood removal and select few limb reductions for improved “strength” and improved canopy profile. Then a pretty neat weeping juniper. Pruning for ornamental appeal, driveway clearance and tasteful containment of lengthy limbs.

That wording could sell tree work to a tree worker! HA!

Tasteful containment for improved profile in this delicate area. Love it!

This was a 4' dbh western redcedar tree (right side of barn) that "needs to come down", according to a competitor.

I recommended removing the dead top, removing the risk to the building and driveway.

I used stacking plates rather than stacking wedges to prevent spit-out.

Removed another large dead alder top (40% of the tree) making it short enough to be a non-issue.
