I'm quite sour toward one of the two big companies right now. I moved half way across the country with big promises of a crew leader position, benefits, and a competitive wage. All I had to do was put in my 30 day probation period and quickly get signed off on my training booklets. Done & done . 2 months pass and a management shuffle later. I'm still working for a groundworkers wage and the manager is denying any knowledge of any of these promises the relocated . manager (who hired me) made.
I'm just a little bitter towards them these days.

Symbioun,
If you are talking about Davey(Canada), I'm still trying to figure out what they get out of this modus operandi.
I was seduced by exactly the same bait and switch that you relate. I interviewed at their head office in Burlington ON, was promised a position and rate of pay, only to arrive in BC and find out it was all mist and vapour. I called back to Head office, was told the decision of local managers could not be messed with, or they would lose the ability to manage.
While I was there, they pulled a young man from Atlantic Canada with the promise of paying his moving expenses (he never saw a penny) and pulled a fellow out of Flemming with the story that they would pay for his schooling through the winter. (they gave him a sign on code for the on-line "Davey Institute". Fine, but Sir Sanford Flemming, it is not!)
I'm OK, the kid from Halifax will survive, but the young man from Flemming they spoofed spent a winter couch surfing, eating scraps where he could before he faced facts that he'd been taken, screwed up the courage to call his parents, they cashed in some RRSPs and he went home.
None of the three of us now work for Davey, nor would we ever again, and I could list others in the same boat. So if it's any consolation, Symbioun, you're not alone.
So I'm left to ask again...What does Davey get out of this? What the hell is the point?
