Correct. They replaced it with a hole that’s too small for a carabiner so no one tries to ddrt off it.

I was thinking the shackle was for ddrt, not sure why. Just shooting off at the mouth about something I know nothing about. Oops. Anyway I do hope this tool hits the market one day!

@Flex Abednego; It's because the shackle looks robust enough to be used as such. Which is why they removed it, if they do not want folks doing so. Got to make it impossible or people will do it.

You could certainly find a shackle that fits, but it would prevent the Akimbo from opening. If you look close at a picture of it in the open position you can see that the hole passes over the opposite side spine piece.
