This is the Akimbo

@ngcook1985; Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum! I think you are going to like it here!

Now, having given you a proper welcome, I have to say that I think it is a bit unfair to say what you said about Rock Exotica. They are in the middle of a massive change in their operation, involving a move of their whole manufacturing capability, I believe. I'm not sure how far along the process is at the current time. The move may be complete, for all I know. I can imagine, however, that this move caused a big backlog in the manufacture of all of the items that they produce, and they probably needed to get caught back up. It would make sense to me that they would want to be sure that all of the customers they have for their existing product line are still able to obtain them, before adding something new to the mix. Once they start cranking on the Akimbo, I think they will try very hard to meet all of the demand for the product, while at the same time maintaining the reputation for amazingly high quality gear that Rock Exotica has always been known for.

Is there some product that you have heard of that Rock Exotica purchased the rights to that never ended up getting made, or something similar?

I think everyone's patience will be rewarded with an amazingly high quality piece of gear, that has been fine-tuned nearly to perfection by Jaime and Rock Exotica. Once it is here, it will be around for a long, long time to come, in my humble opinion.

Thanks for listening.

@Flex Abednego; I think what you are doing is a good thing. It lets the company know that there really is a customer base out there anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Akimbo. It might possibly cause them to bump up the priority level on the Akimbo. Having people calling, badly wanting a product of theirs that hasn't yet hit the marketplace is a good problem to have.

I think they might be surprised that they killed the hype by taking so long. Honestly I’m ready to just by another BDB and let a few rounds of akimbo go by. I walked out of a restaurant I go to fairly often today, it’s my first choice when I have the family with me, but I won’t wait long for people to get their shit together.

they are trying to get the thing absolutely right the first time out. it takes a while. the fact is RE wont put anything out thats not polished amd perfect. thats not a bad thing. the hype machine just got out of hand. they havent been feeding that machine though

"The Akimbo rocks! And the RE version is going to be in my arsenal no matter when it gets released. As for hype... I have not yet begun to defile myself"

FF, funny post.

Seriously though, I think there will be plenty of excitement and hype to go. It's an awesome tool.

Of course some may not be so over the top excited about it - that's how I got mine (on TreeBay.)

By the way have I posted I just found out I could run it on 1/2 Safety Blue? I often set that as a light pull line and this makes decent far more comfortable - backed up by a flip line.

Cheers, this is my 3rd or 4th account here. I always just sign up for a new one when I bounce from android to iPhone on Tapatalk.
So first up they got Morgan Thompson’s unicender and instead of fixing its flaws then marketing it they ran it as is. Terrible tending with the bottom bar and a massive dangerous free fall mode if you weren’t quick enough to flick the rope off in the wrapped mode. (I’ve worn out around 5 of them so I’m a seasoned user.)
The rope runner 2 has died there as well, now the akimbo. Anyone with any great idea needs to keep it to themselves and use methods like Kickstarter to fund and get the item into production (yes I know the akimbos history so far) treeguys love to have a great big wank over all new gear, who doesn’t? I’ve bought so many bits just to try myself. Any decent idea should have no issue getting off the ground in this industry.
Maybe ISC should have picked up on it, something would have been out by now and made to impeccable quality too.

That’s garbage, the uni is a great example of this. Hardly polished and perfect, they took Morgans design chucked it straight in the CNC machine and started pumping them out. Maybe if they stopped making stupid fucking grappling hooks that serve no purpose to anyone they could actually get something done.
Also when it came to standing behind their product and supplying documentation so it could be deemed as safe for Australian climbing comps it was all promise and hot air.

I think I now know the real reason you keep changing your identity! You need to lighten up a bit. Also, why would you have purchased and used 5 or so unicenders if you hate them so much. Please think about what you are trying to achieve by posting publicly... you are not going to change anyone’s minds with the attitude you have now. If you have valuable information to share, I would suggest doing it in a constructive way rather than all the hate. Just a thought.

So it will work with Vortex? My rope of choice these days. I probably asked this back on page 49 but I'm just coming off a week of the flu and my brain needs to reboot.

When my amazing friend Casey let me test drive his Akimbo I had tried it on all kinds of 10.5 - 11.5 ropes but never the Big V - I hope it opens enough to run smooth with it.
