The Bob Weber says, “NO ONE IN THE WORLD CAN DISMANTLE A TREE FASTER THAN ME…

1st time seeing it used is the vid of the old time film "high faller". the vid where the guy climbs on top of the spar 100' up(?) with it swaying from the top cut and his tea and scone.
I use this when working off a roof so the bar tip doesn't drag.
Tried in the trees and didn't like managing it with my ropes etc.
I give it another go.
I have two of the Black Diamond makes a nice padded over the shoulder carrier. works great for speed line slings or for your chainsaw.
It is nice system in the right scenario.

Man, that is intense... So many things about it. The single 3-strand natural fiber rope... which he runs way loose as he stomps up, while cutting with the safety feature free ancient homelite.

We may soon see the first ever wave of old, dumb, tree climbers. While running multiple systems, easily availible equipment that basically turns close enough into exactly what you want, cut-resistant everything, it gets easier and easier to not fall. Those old school guys were good or they were dead.

You're way is good for you and I'm sure you may think it's faster to do it you're way but your ignorant to think that a climber pulling a climber saw off his hip is waisting time. Waisting time comes from you cutting frisbee discs all day. Nothing is faster than having a well trained ground guy. I was trained to take a tree down by myself and you can't deny that weber, but Im john Wayne with a climber saw on my hip, and with my ground guy I will have a tree down in half the time because of rigging. As a sub I'm speaking of experience. Test me.

I bet I've watched that video 2 dozen times over the years: it never has gotten old.

Stick one arm and one head through the burgundy strap and the saw rides on your shoulder rather than your harness.

@rawtree, I noticed that you use two nonlocking carabiners, do you find it easier, faster to use two instead of just the one?

Edit: after looking at your set up, I think I will give it another try, using something softer for the sling. I used a shoulder padding and also flat webbing, will have to try a wider tubular webbing. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting the picture, The.

So are you saying after you cut something that needs to be quickly handled, you drop the saw? Seeing vid would help understanding. Is your system better than where climbers carry saw on hip and can put it away one handed?

You carry your gas n oil aloft cuz you work alone? That is interesting but it does sound like a significant extra burden.

Thanks.

I reread your posts, it sounds like you keep it clipped short most of the time. Make the cut, set the brake, quickly bring it back to your body and let go of it.

Who the hell is bob weber?
I've been waiting for someone to ask this question. Bob and a few of his contemporaries is the reason there is Arbormaster Training, treemagineers with the TM saddle and a host of other innovations that have made your jobs today much easier than they were 20, 30 years ago. I met Bob just after he won the itcc in 1989, and have learned a bunch from him. I count him as a friend. Definitely bit rough around the edges but a solid guy who knows his shit.
