One can be pretty fast when you're not working in accordance with some sort of industry standard. On who?
Also, I would like to third for pictures of that saw setup.

None of this means I doubt Homebody's speed.
And do you guys really find a lot of young climbers who can't tie Blake's/tautline/2 over 1 under hitches?
Probably for the same reason that if I claimed to be the fastest in the world at trimming my nose hairs with a chainsaw while standing on a dinner plate balanced on the end of a flagpole on top of a 20 story building... nobody would jump up thinking, "What a great way to earn fame, fortune and respect!" and offer to go first.
Just my guess.
Bob is poking fun to share a lesson learned.
Tom, I'll get the the pics together later on this week.Bob,
Can you get us a pic?
I think I understand though...
The right handed version would be...taking a sling over the left shoulder and down to the right hip. The saw sling is clipped to the shoulder sling. The saw dangles from the sling over to the right hip.
This eliminates clipping and unclipping the saw from the hook on the harness.
Great idea!
Doesn't OSHA allow for single hand chainsaw use when nothing else is available?I would call that cheating sir.
That's what I'm doing with this thread; sharing what works for me. The header got your attention, didn't it. You guys are the ones that started the The Bob Weber thing; they thought they were messen with me but i liked it so i took it. I'm not angry here. Mess up one of my jobs like the kid did and hell yeah you'll see anger. Where's the anger here? I'm just stating what I believe to be the advantages of the system, in a cocky way. If you are good with a small saw this will make you amazing. Most of the our work in the tree is off center and at an angle and the saw hangs plume, running and right with you. No matter what you think of my attitude this is sharing. Go back and look at my first series of posts in 03. You guys fucked me up. But I have learned, you all taught me, and I'm just given it back to the masterbaters on this site, not that you're one of them, never really saw you before. Why are all the"older" tree men so angry? Is this what I have to look forward to- constantly challenging all the young"whippersnappers"? Why not just post about the knowledge you have acquired? You have my respect - no need to be combative!?
Not sure just was busting ballsDoesn't OSHA allow for single hand chainsaw use when nothing else is available?
I knew exactly how I would be treated when I attacked the kid. I didn't want any slack. They slammed me right out of the gate and THEY WERE RIGHT TO DO IT! Think I'm here to make friends?!? I got a dog. Ive worked totally solo for 30 years cause I won't work with slackers. Wanna here another boast? I can cut down any tree in the world by my self. You pay my hourly rate and I'll cut Frisbees all day long. I'll carry fuel cans, dozens of short ropes to lower stuff out, pre set a couple of solo speed lines and I'm off... $85.00 per hour (that's my old rate before the kid showed me how the younger guys work but I'll give you the old rate just to make a point)He caught some hell recently over an under-performing contract climber that he was mad about. I am not saying his points were invalid, just that nobody cut him any slack for being abrasive.

I also don't doubt that he is fast. And good with a saw. Fastest in the world is a big claim though.
One thing that I have noticed from the two comps that I have shown up for is that everyone tries hard to appear humble. Even (maybe especially) the really excellent climbers. Nobody wants to start any pissing matches between professional pissers in public.
Also, we can challenge whippersnappers now. They start as young as they ever have... And can't tie a blake's.

You're first post was pretty good, now I think you should just go away...Bob WeberJust how insulting and belligerent does an old fart have to be to earn the Crotchety Old Bastard merit badge? I may be setting my goals too low.
You're right about three things: (1) I wasn't on here in '03 (2) you did share some knowledge (even if it was in an angry...er "cocky" way) and (3) I am a masturbater........still don't know how you knew that.......are you watching me Bob Weber?!That's what I'm doing with this thread; sharing what works for me. You too, hit the road. You guys just playen around and letting this thread go over your head. If you are any good with a chainsaw this will change your life. If you don't like any weight slung over your shoulder then you'll just keep on being mediocre...A
Absolutely! I would start a new thread titled "Crotchety old bastard tree man appreciation" . Where we could let them know that they are deeply loved and appreciated, but I don't have the balls !
Ah, maybe you should stay...Probably for the same reason that if I claimed to be the fastest in the world at trimming my nose hairs with a chainsaw while standing on a dinner plate balanced on the end of a flagpole on top of a 20 story building... nobody would jump up thinking, "What a great way to earn fame, fortune and respect!" and offer to go first.

I think I could hang with you. Trust me, if you saw what we've got going on in Germany you would see that I am a team player. I'll aways be passive aggressive but they have a way a calming me down. They are professions and I am too. Hell, even Bettis doesn't really like me but, being one of his first teachers, he respects me.Who gives a flying fuck...I go to work to make money....put $ on it and come in on time with the work...day done...rise to the challenges...but bottom line is put some fucking dollars on the work...let the cheap tools fly
