Looks like tons of hassle was saved by using that advanced cut. I liked seeing you err on the side of caution when the skid steer started pulling that line. Better to go back to the step cut and plunge in on both sides vertically to trip the step cut, which saves you the hassle of breaking another rope.

Ten bucks says you left the pole up that high so that you would have to drop it between the shrub and the sidewalk. You are the man.

I said I won't comment on Daniels posts anymore , but my tongue is bleeding . Know my Dad and friends aside . I feel like I have always been truthful to treebuzz on all posts that were questionable . Okay ? good . so here we go , put your seat belt on, cause this ride will make you hit your mom .
Seriously , why on a sraight up stem do you need a loader ? why do you need a plunge cut on a tree that is striaght ? why all the pre causions with the mats ? afraid you'll miss? so many questions , such a small tree , wtf? seriously if you just want to make a video to show off a cut you have , that border line ( can't say the R word) I don't get it , it was ametuer at best and anyone who does that same cut on a similar tree is ...can't say the R word http://www.r-word.org/ . Lets just call it stupid . I take back saying I won't comment anymore . Bring your best game on , because you don't have game . I owe it to people here to comment on your R stuff . ESPN has a great show called CMON MAN , Daniel , CMON MAN ! take away your loader and mini bucket and what do you have ? a long day ! It's unreal how pissed I got viewing that video I couldn't believe it.

It's also kinda odd that you came up with the same R word that I did. Amazing how strongly i wanted to go off and say stuff, i had to really hold myself back bigtime.

I wanted to say you F'n R word so dang bad it hurt not to.

and I think a lot of it is because he just won't stop, he just keeps asking for it.

Please look at the video from 0:53 to 0:55, that's pretty much how I felt when I saw Daniels latest video.

also a note on that video link, it's a charlie brown cartoon with "ghetto style" language dubbed over the cartoon, so please don't click on it if you have children nearby that could possibly hear it. Also has racial topics, so be advised and don't watch if vulgar language and such topics might offend you.
 
That worked ok for what was intended as saving some grinding time on the stump.
Taking a bit of a chance with the narrow drop zone though in my opinion but you aren't the first to do that here.
 
That soft dutchman works but it's unpredictable as to how far the tree will swing.
I used it a few times last year and it works well in the woods.
It's much like imploding a building with explosives, as the tree begins to fall the weight of the tree collapses in the kerfs and sends the tree off to one side.
The tree in the video doesn't swing 180o but it falls 180o from the back lean and I think that's what he meant.
 
Besides the lack off PPE, why do we all still feel the need to wine and complain about every thing this guy puts on this site? We all agree that we would not go about working in the same way that he does. We all agree that he puts himself out there ( by vids ) as taking chances that dont ever seem to be necessary. Of course I too shake my head and sometimes feel as thou he gives good workers/companies a bad name. But reading two pages of the same thing for the most part (talk about how this guy sucks)gets older then seeing what messed up thing this guy will post next! Let him do his thing, if the powers to be on this site say enough is enough they will ban him from here. Or you could all just ask that to happen so you stop being so angry at your computers.
 
Fairfield, I think the reason for all the strong criticism is that most of the folks doing the criticizing have, in the past, repeatedly been met with a holier-than-thou attitude when asking reasonable questions or making reasonable critiques. So now, when Daniel posts, "it's on" so to speak.

I agree, it's a bit much, but I still find myself clicking on the posts like I'm peeking over at a car wreck.

agreed, I just dont get the reason of even giving him the time of day this way. He doesnt want to answer questions with respeact, and has stated "its on". He is right, " its on" all by himself. Watch what he puts up laugh at him (at the screen) and then say nothing. If he is just looking for a fight or some kind of response he wont have it. That will most likely stop the posts here by him. I hate seeing well rounded vets of this work dumb themself down to try and bash him, we are all better then this. Lets find our way back to teaching each other and helping each other and not wasting time on the ones that dont care.

What drives me mental is that all the comments I have ever read start off with genuine concern for the shortcuts, but the ego is borderline suicidal. I have never encountered someone so determined to be a Darwin award.

Now this is funny!

Really the people making the noise about his videos are some of the guys that in a way smell his ego and can't stand it. I just question a lot of the stuff he does and why he does it that way.

He gives us all something to watch. That's about it.

Soon I would like to get some videos up and would like some feedback...one thing I do ask for however is a way to do it better.

damn this is entertainment plain and simple. this site would be boring as hell with out daniels dumb azz to bash and make fun of....... sh-t i'm still waiting on the gutter cleaning vid i need to make $4000 a week cleaning gutters. hell i would donate tree work to the poor if i was banking that kinda bread for janitorial work.

discussing the entertainment value of this site: when are the powers that be let holly back in here? other than his abrasive tone and disgust for authority AFTER a couple or twelve beers; he was a good dude and very knowledgeable..... and hey wtf have i or half the other guys on this site have to say about someone being abrasive. some of that stuff he was dragged into was to get him fired up, then they could whine to the mods about his "tone" and get him kicked off the site because he shut them down and made them look dumb at one point in time or another. i can think of four candy azz members off the top of my head that would be that devious.
