Smart Winch/GRCS comparison

Merle, a 3/4" drive socket set into the end of the Hobbs accomplishes the same thing at far less cost and bulkiness. If extra torque is required, the winch bar slides over the end of the ratchet.

Let's all just take a minute and thank Greg Good for both of these devices. Without his ingenuity we may never have seen attempts at improvement. It's all good LOL!

We should also never forget Ed Hobbs, as he was really the first one to bring us the commercial lowering device.

The Smart winch seems to lack and upper attachment point that the Stein devices have... so nice for hanging the devices by one person. I have yet to see a rigging scenario, besides storm damage scenarios, that the 3001 can't handle.
