Those of you using a rope style bridge on your saddles what is your favored attachment point. Do you use the rings or use a micro pulley?

Neither. I clip both biners directly to the bridge.

Ditto.

I have a captured eye biner and a shackle on my bridge. Sometimes I clip a biner directly to the bridge. It all depends on how I want the biners in my climbing set to nest together.

Tom, Is the eye riding the brige or the gate side of the 'biner? I'm picturing you letting the eye ride the bridge and you threading a spliced eye onto the gated end of the 'biner.

The only advantage I see in the ring is that it rotates everything 90 degrees. Right now, clipping directly to the bridge, my hitch hangs pointing to the right. It's natural for me to use it the way it is, so I'm not sure I'll change it.

Only disadvantage I have is that ocasionally the biners will sometimes overlap when going from slack to taut. But I dont mind, I like that the lines stay slightly seperated most of the time. Also, I think it's much quicker to unclip, and clip quickly back in.

The captured eye biner is on my left with the gate pointing up towards my tummy...or is that belly??? The shackle is on the right.

When I climb DdRT the spliced eye of my rope goes onto the biner. then I clip a Petzl Williams into the shackle for my hitch termination.

This keeps the W'ms gate perpendicular to the captured eye and neither of their gates clash. They nest together so nicely.

Scourge approves of the setup! This setup now resides on my TreeFlex.

Depending on my SRT setup I might use either piece or the bridge.

why the shackle and not the ring that is on the bridge from the manufacturer?

does that move/slide/ride what would be the term, different then the ring?

why the shackle and not the ring that is on the bridge from the manufacturer?

The shackle is physically smaller in diameter and thickness so it is more compact and aligns the top of the W'ms a bit lower so taht it nests together with the captive eye biner and eliminates gate clashing on my harness...YMMV

does that move/slide/ride what would be the term, different then the ring?

Yes...but in practice the shackle and captive eye slide as one.

is it the size of the opening

???In the eye of the captive eye...

No, it slides on the bridge

??? Of the shackle...

The distance from the bridge to the inner diameter of the shackle is just a bit less than using the aluminum ring. This keeps things nestled better for me.

The dimeter of the shackle's rod part is smaller than the al ring too so this helps to align things tigher on the bridge.

hms versus the captive eye and the D biner

I don't know what you're asking here???

how they sit against each other?

I don't know what you're asking here???

why not just use an hms and a d?

Where? In what configuration?

I like the captive eye - but need to understand why i might use it over my hms.

is it the size of the opening

Ok - sorry - is the cative eye and hms the same size

minus the eye - the opening.

how they sit against each other?

i understand they nest - if the against each other i see that and i also use a hms on the bridge and a d in the ring, BUT onthe captive eye does it sit closer or INTO.

I don't know what you're asking here???

why not just use an hms and a d?

same configurate one on the bridge - one in the shackle.

Where? In what configuration?

if i am still confusing you - i can post a picture later

thanks again
