West marine or fisheriesupplies, I have Marlow brand, the one Robline I got didn’t have much wax on it making the end fray while trying to put it in the needle. I‘m a little more obsessive, the same color has to be on both ends of the whipping.

Foot loop for hand ascender. 1/4" double braid, a piece of Yale Blaze jacket, and a DMM XSRE screw gate. Looks good with the orange CT ascender. I've been wanting to try this so I can do a knee and hand ascender. I love my foot ascender but this option frees me up to wear whatever boots I want.

That's the plan but I left it as a knot until I figure my perfect length out. Measure twice, cut once!

Put in during splice, attempt to keep eyes from sliding. Worked okay but too fragile, now put a light coating of Liquid Tape on inside of eye.
Also used multiply locked brummels instead of long bury,

In a quest to up my whipping game with fancy colors, I ordered samples from here. Made in USA. Several color and diameters available. No affiliation with company, just happy with their thread.

Waxed Thread

Waxing makes thread stiffer, stronger, and more water repellent. We have waxed thread on 70 yard tubes in six thicknesses, 12 and 24 yard waxed thread coils, thin embalmers thread, and waxed polyester / linen.

The whipping below was done with .050". Nice having thicker thread since it makes for fewer wraps.

Dual color whipping does look fancy. Odd eye size was intentional.

Tried some larger ropes for the first time. 1" and 3/4" Stable Braid.

Unknown old line off a sailboat and a set of 1/8" Amsteel soft shackles.

I have been working in some big burnt up Reds and Firs for the last couple weeks and it is tearing the shit out of my fliplines and my saws.....Maintanance day around here working on saws and splicing up a few new flip-lines. A 10 footer and a 20 footer..

After weaving each strand three or four times, you can start to taper each strand in order to achieve an invisible finish.

New member here but long time lurker. Finally completed my first splice projects, thanks mainly to this forum and YouTube. Pretty happy with them although I will probably end up remaking them since I could use the practice and there are some improvements I would do next time.

Be careful. Pretty soon you'll start hanging out at the rope section of any place that sells rope, just checking to see what's available that can be spliced. Whether you have any use for the rope or "knot".
