What it comes down to Tim is trying to save a few minutes, even as much as an hour (time = money) by risking it instead of taking the extra time to address the thing that is causing concern. Whether it was ratchet strapping, or whipping the whole trunk to secure against the defect, bore cutting as suggest by Classic or any of the other options that ran thru Jeff's mind it all comes down to prioritizing. In this case, he prioritized production over safety. Well we know how that worked out, $500 for a used replacement or %1K for the new 461. Compare that to the cost of that hour supposedly saved....
