This is all I have to go on. I didn't see the tree but it is growing in USDA zone 9.

Anyone have an idea?

Leon,

I was hoping that you would know.

I know it's not much to work with, I bumped into it in the dark and didn't see where it came from. I'll be in the same area Sunday night and see if I can find some leaves.

I'm guessing somewhere in USDA Zone 9.

I'm in Zone 8, and it is over 100 F today

Ok,

I had some time to find this tree last night while on break.

Leaf and seed pods,

The flashlight is a 3 D battery Maglight to sorta help perspective. The actual seeds are about the size of a golf ball.

Hey Leon,

I'll send you some seeds, maybe it can be the next invasive plant for HI,

Seriously though, you work at an arboretum, if you can get the OK, I'll send some.

Eric, I just checked and we do actually have a couple of those trees in our Arboretum. I'll check them out sometime soon. We've got around 7000 plant species so it's hard for me to keep track of it all!

Thanks for the offer of the seeds, though.
