I'm having this discussion with guys I highly respect for their knowledge, experience and skills so please take arguments made as simply talking science.
It's a little like talking the 3:1 MA on a limb walk
The only way, did I say "only", to get MA for a floating knee ascender is to also attach that bungee to something other than the knee ascender, like the tree limb above. Again, replace the bungee with any other cordage and see what it does. Now we are taking huge strides, stepping over whole trees in a single bound.

Again, in understanding this, replace the bungee with static cordage and see what it does.
