rope runner

Hey Moss, they use the same wood for the SpiderJack brake. You're absolutely right, it's "Da Bomb " for the Woody (Brake) Hump. Glad to hear that you got the new Runner tending pulley Steve, does it make that big of a difference? I've been looking at them for a while now, but gonna have to sell some stuff to pick one up. I'm also looking into getting the new BDB. Might have a buyer for my old one. Glad to see everyone is doing well! Richard has some of the most intuitive ideas, for such a busy guy! [emoji28]

Maybe with a worn out backplate, Swingdude. I just couldn't bring myself to bastardize a new or fairly used one, so that may take a while before attempting. Nonetheless, a great idea!

I do think it makes a difference. I had rebushed my pulley once and was about to take it apart and clean it again but then I picked up the bearing pulley. Just wish it was gold. I could switch out the side plates from the gold one but I'm too lazy!

A cast iron insert would be interesting to try, as it has the highest coefficient of friction of any metal, with very good wear characteristics.
So once the "perfect" shape is made out of wood, tested for tending etc. what would it take to make a cast so that multiples could be made. Plaster, sand, etc.??? That would, (wood) be easier then cutting and routing for sure.
