removal tie in options

I am just looking for the various ways other climbers tie into a tree while blocking down the stern. I am assuming the tree is verticle and round...lets call it a pine removal. How are you attatched to the tree with your main climbing line incase a descent is needed prematurely?

This questions came to my mind today when I was working with another climber who was doing a pine removal. On his way working down the stern, he would only be tied in with a steel core flip line. I am concerned because I believe you should always have a ready made route to the ground for any emergency that might arise. The setup I climb on is different from his, so my method will not work for him. I am looking to be able to supply my feloow climbers with as many options as i can in the hopes they will find one they like. I think its gonna be adjustable FS all the way but I would still like to broaden my knowledge base of all the ways that are out there to stayed tied in.

Exactly the same system I use! .....but different rope and cord.

same for me too, except I use a biner in place of the running bowline. Its just a clip away from my normal ddrt setup, and i can change back quickly.

yeah, i use the SRT setup you have posted. The climber i was talking about uses a closed system with a blakes...he is comfortable with it and doesn't want to change it...he doesn't even want to use a split tail. He doesn't speak english so its hard for me to teach him the ins and outs of the different configurations that are out there

I am surprised you use that TreeCo. I thought you might just use an 8 backed-up with a splitail somehow.

If my lanyard is still around the tree( which in most cases is) I don't even bother to back up the 8.

A couple subs I know use that on their lanyards because they say you can adjust it when weighted. It seems that there is more to get tangled and to keep an eye on with it.

I guess the pulley is to locate the rope in the middle ?

Can you post a pic that shows emerg. descent capability even if you are blocking down a section that has no stub nearby to tie into/rappel from?

I have heard it said that it is possible to girth hitch a deaf 8 accidently. I have been climbing since I was 6, just recently with a rope. Seriously though I never have done it. How does it happen?

The pulley is so it can be advanced with one hand, it pushes the hitch up the rope. I rope climb on the same system but instead of ending in a running bowline it's tied to a biner and comes back to the saddle.

Blocking down a spar I ratehr like my DdRT system run through an adjustable friction saver plus my lanyard. To be frank, I very seldom use a friction saver in normal pruning but when there is a spar to destroy an adjustable one is the kitty's PJs.

It does nothing to hold the hitch in place?

That's right. By taking the tail of the rope in one hand and pulling it upwards the pulley catches the bottom of the hitch and pushes it upwards. It's called 'one hand slack tending'. Very handy when limb walking, especially on the return.

I was joking, I know how to do it I was just messing with you.

Just to fill you in: I have worked at more companies than years I am old.You are one of the few peolple I worked for that I have any respect for. Really. I hate them all and think them liars, cheats, and theives. I am glad to see you doing you own thing by yourself. Every last one of them was run by a complete jackass and only wished to make his pockets fat. To let you know: I got more out of them than did of me which is usually the case with everything.

I guess I will be sent packing soon and trust me its is no great loss. I usually don't stick around much anyway. My lack of respect comes from somewhere, if you want to find out where stick with me.

You know I have always given 110%. and you better know that when I did work for you it was my second job. The thing I liked best about you was the fact that you worked with the crew. But yes, it is not wise to send a kid like I was back then to use a chipper or even be on a job without at least telling him to watch out. I remember my first day like it was yesterday.
